Procer Veneficus - Deathwanderings
On "Deathwanderings," Procer Veneficus appropriates drifting fugues from Chopin, Satie and Schubert and distorts them into beautiful smears of wistful ambience. These are pieces that, Derek notes, have "been examined, assembled, and deconstructed into cavernous resonance. Originally intended for use as a soporific, this is music for worlds of ice constructed in the deepest recesses of the mind, and for wanderings at the threshold of death." Not a million miles off from recent Andrew Chalk recordings, and gorgeous as all hell.

Procer Veneficus - I (Deathwanderings)

That was beautiful! But it seems like it would be easy to compose. Like some of these computer programs can be manipulated to produce random sound sequences. I don't hear the art in it, but maybe I don't have a good ear.

Misty Morning, Albert Bridge by The Pogues. I love the trumpets at the end.

My fifteen-year-old sister improvising a set of variations at the piano -- she has a way with the theme-and-variations form! I wish I could record it, this one's sounding kinda good...

Jeffrey Cotton's Symphony For Strings, which I don't believe I've heard before. There are Quick Time sound files on his site, here:

As usual, CBC One. Once in awhile I go on a Youtube tear and listen to chant and Celtic music, but usually it's just the radio and I hate commercials!
