Found this on Google books

http://books.google.com/books?id=LpoXAAAAYAAJ

You can read it online or download it as a PDF.

Psychology, Empirical and Rational: Empirical and Rational
By Michael Maher, S.J.
Published by Longmans, Green, 1915

This is a pretty good Catholic treatment of the topic from a philosophical point of view and refers to the Soul, St. Thomas and the scholastic concepts of it, etc.

Thanks, Quis. I should check through my bookmarks. I've found a few gems myself.

Perhaps its already known to most but Fr. Chad Ripperger has written 3 books detailing a Catholic and Thomistic philosophical psychology. They are quite technical, a detailed knowledge of Thomistic philosophy and scientific psychology is required to make use of them.

You'll also find links to video interviews on that page and a short audio lecture on his multimedia page

Modern Psychology and the Catholic Faith

Father's media content is penanceware, the concept of which is explained on his site.

It should be pointed out that "psychology"...the branch of metaphysics dealing with the soul and its faculties in the abstract...is quite a different topic than "psychology" as commonly used today; the study of the mind and human motives and feelings and thoughts and behavior concretely. And they arent mutually exclusive.

I just discovered this book in a used book store in Nerja in the south of Spain!

Only €10, on the floor underneath a stack of shelves, I felt God put it into my hands.... I'm writing a paper on epistemology using Cardinal Newman at the moment and Fr. Maher talks all about this stuff.

There are so many Catholic TREASURES out there (many totally forgotten and abandoned it seems).... I'm simply blown away by this polymath Fr Maher!
