Guess it's still a few more days to NY then.
Got it today! Nicely packaged via "Luftpost".

I set up volume one and used it to pray Vespers ( I usually use the Monastic Breviary, but I hope St. Benedict will forgive me as the propers are the same).

First of all, this is the first new Breviary I've ever owned, except for a set of LOTH bought years ago. The cover is remarkably soft and flexible, the print is well sized and easy to read.

I used up all six of the ribbons quickly, but it was enough. With the insert cards for the Magnificat and final antiphons, I didn't need to use the ordinary (not present in the Monastic Breviary anyway), so I used 4 ribbons even including commemorations of the St. Nicholas and St. Ambrose. I'm not sure if I was supposed to do that, but I used my accustomed rubrics rather than try to learn 1962 ones.

All in all it seems a very successful effort. I think I'll use it again tomorrow and let you know what I find out.

I used it for Sunday and today's feast. It is in fact very well laid out, there is considerably less page-turning that in the Monastic breviaries that I own. Things that seemed not right in the text turned out to be differences in the Roman Breviary itself (hymn words for example). It has a lot of thoughtful touches, like repeating the collect rather than make you look back to last night's Vespers. Most of the material is accessible from the proper or Psalter, I hardly have to use the ordinary at all.

If I have a complaint it is that the Psalm verses sometimes seem to run together, a space between verses would be nice, but others may not agree.

This is a high quality, usable Breviary and I recommend it.

Oh well.. my wife inadvertently (at least that is what she told me) ordered the breviary as Usual Mail(special book rate) and not as Airmail.

Anybody have any experience on how many moons it will take for the Germans breviary to arrive to the east coast of the US?

I am so jealous....
Hurry up post some pics.. I need a breviary fix :^)
