I think the requirements for actual validity are "form, matter, and intent."  That's the catch about NO, you're not guaranteed at every mass that all these things are fulfilled.  They could have perfect form and intent, but if they didn't use the proper ingredients in the Host, then the mass is invalid.  I've heard some crazy stories about abuses of matter.

The proper intent is what appears to be lacking at most of them, although I have seen the tortilla chip "mass."

What always amazes me is that it is the old dinosaurs who put up with it. You would think they would know better since they were of age when the new order was imposed. They traded the Faith for being "in communion" with their modernist bishops.

Baskerville,

From what I've read, all NO Masses in English are of doubtful validity because they deliberately changed "for many" to "for all" in the consecration, thus changing the signification. This is against the explicit and direct condemnation of such practice by St. Pius V in De Defectibus who stated that this would invalidate the sacrament.

The fact that the sacrament is probably invalidated is exemplified by the fact that there was no kneeling during the consecration (no need to since Our Lord is not there in person), plus the priest obviously believes he is presiding over a simple meal with bread and wine. So even if you didn't have the problems with the form, this priest's intent to do what the Church does would be suspect.

This is all besides the point that the Mass was filled with sacrileges of EM's, communion in the hand, girl altar boys, etc. all previously forbidden.

I once showed up VERY late for mass...and when I came in there were about fifteen people left in line for Communion.  I tried to come into the church to join the line, but the usher wouldn't let me.  He pushed me back, and blocked the door so I couldn't get in.  Then he proceeds to offer me entry after the priest is putting the Hosts away!

I'm glad he didn't let you receive - since, being that late, you did not hear Mass and should not receive anyway.

I agree.  In that case, the usher was actually doing his job.  I think the absolute Offertory is the latest one can enter church and still have it "count" for your Sunday obligation.
I suppose you're right!  And to think I've harbored uncharitable thoughts about this usher all these years, God forgive me.  Ah well, live and learn.  I wish he'd have said something about it at the time, rather than the arm bar/shove combo though!  But thinking on it, he may indeed have just been "doing his job," as you say.

Baskerville,

I share your pain. My last NO Mass was a 1045 Mass some time ago. I had to decided to give my local NO another shot. I had been bouncing back and forth from NO to SSPX. I wanted to be in "full communion" and legit with the authority so I took my family there.

I was treated to electric guitar, drums, & piano at 1045!! Then I had to hear a homily starting with how JohnXXIII struggled to hold the Church together during the 60's (huh?) and that Jesus founded an institutional church in our hearts and that the local parish is simply a place we go to to do good works. After communion the pastor and a laywoman got up and  introduced some parishoner who was an astronaut and had just returned from a shuttle mission! Yes, we were all supposed to sit there and listen to this guy talk about his space flight during the supposed Holy Sacrifice?

Add to that EM's, communion in the hand, shabbily and immodestly dressed laity, hand holding, Prot hymns, etc.

It was too much and I got my family and walked out fuming. It is then when it truly crystallized for me that this is another religion. A modernist, protestant, new age religion of man that was drowning my soul and that of my family. I've only been to the TLM since.

The SSPX Chapel here has a very nice community where one can live a truly Catholic life. It is impossible in every other "Catholic" church in this diocese. That is how bad the crisis is. It is an epidemic of global proportions. God help us. Find your local life boat where the TLM is said and save your soul. The matter is too important to put in the hands of some "approved" NO fool who doesn't know his faith from drivel.

This thread reminds of of a question: what does a traditionalist do when there is no TLM available? I am thinking of our resident Hoosier, Neel, and his plight in Evansville, In. While Evansville has a pop. of about 150,000, they no longer have a TLM within a day's driving time. One could drive to St. Louis or Louisville, but they are at the minimum three and two hours each way, respectively. And I am sure there are many, many other regions who have a similar quandry.  Does a like-minded laity, disgusted with the NO innovations, come together and say a full, 15 decade Rosary instead of the risk of losing the faith statt going to 'mass.'? Maybe we should put a prayer request in the oratory for those who do not have the Mass of all Times available. Now I feel fortunate and guilty: a CMRI two miles away and a FSSP four miles from my home.

It was similar nonsense like this in my (former) NO parish that led me straight into the arms of an SSPX chapel, Deo Gratias!

Yes, and the local NO churches just keep on with the nonsense and could care less. The diabolical disorientation is so firmly entrenched in the NO culture, I'm not sure how it will ever change. The people who inhabit these churches are for the most part, not Catholic. They simply need to be faced with the decision to convert to the true faith and stop their humanistic sacrileges or be cut off so they won't infect others. Of course this Pope nor the Bishops will ever do this partly because they share in the disease and even if they had the will they live in fear of human respect.

My SSPX chapel is an hour and a half away. I am actually planning on looking for a place closer to it. I spoke with Fr. this morning after Mass. I am going to enroll in the Third Order of Saint Pius X, and simply want to be able to attend Mass more frequently.
I quit going to the NO, and have never looked back.
