Some people are so anti-SSPX, they will just ignore what the Holy See has said about attending their Masses.  Such an anti-SSPX stance is written on their hearts, and is a most unfortunate disease.  I recommend reading Stevus' blog post in the thread Seadog linked to.

Yes, but the same is true on the flip side.  Some people are so pro-SSPX, that they just ignore what Rome says unless it agrees with their own idea of how things should be.  They defend these actions saying it is necessary to uphold Tradition, ok, I've heard the argument before, but it comes off as prideful and arrogant.

I agree with this to some extent in terms of certain people,  but nothing compares to the ferocity and utter disdain most Catholics have for the SSPX.

"We have to build, while the others are demolishing. The crumbled citadels have to be rebuilt, the bastions of Faith have to be reconstructed; firstly the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass of all times, which forms saints; then our chapels, monasteries, our large families, our enterprises faithful to the social politics of the Church, our politicians determined to make the politics of Jesus Christ - this is a whole fiber of Christian social life, Christian customs, Christian reflexes, which we have to restore."

- His Grace Archbishop Lefebvre

"It is absurd, and a detestable shame, that we should suffer those traditions to be changed which we have received from the fathers of old."

I'd put money on 90% of Latin Rite Catholics not even knowing the SSPX exists.

I promise not to put anything here which might help us question our mind-forged manacles, inspire us, or help us in any way at all.

N.B.: I will not be posting on this site again until the Christmas octave. Have a good Advent.

I'd agree with Credo on that one, seeing as how I didn't have any idea what they were (or that they existed) until about a year ago when I started looking at this site.

I also agree with Credo and Tiddle -  the general Catholic public likely has no idea the details of the SSPX.  I would think traditional Catholics know more than most, but your average Novus Ordo Catholic has no idea there's a rift because nobody has said anything to them about it.

If both sides who know the details practiced a little more ecumenism, maybe we'd work this out a little faster, but nobody seems to want to interpret Vatican II in the proper light of Tradition, they'd rather just try to get it thrown out.  A shame, really.  All this energy with internal bickering instead of evangelizing, the devil is loving it.

Your average novus ordo catholic doesn't know very much about his Faith, either.

The truth is that the SSPX practices ecumenism--they speak the truth at all times.

If you are referring to what passes itself off as ecumenism--that I'm ok, you're ok trash philosophy of the 70's which is currently the modus operandi of many Churchmen today--don't wait too long.  It ain't gonna happen.  SSPX is confident in the Truth and doesn't play that game.
