i am a medical school graduate, a graduate of a [world-renowned] training program in psychiatry,  i am a diplomate of the american board of psychiatry and neurology. i am a clinical instructor in psychiatry at my former medical school.

what is quoted above, from the other poster, just isn't true. not at all. in no way. it just doesn't go with the research and studies.

i was born, raised  as a  roman catholic and educated in the roman catholic educational system until i entered medical school.

God also gave us reason so that we could draw truthful conclusions from facts.  You can deny fire is hot by saying "the wisdom of man counts for little" but you're still going to get burned if you put your hand in it.  I'm not familiar with the studies, but if they are honest and accurate studies we should accept the results.

The bottom line is that regardless of the cause of homosexuality, those who are homosexuals are called to behave (just as heterosexuals are).

Should we?

QuisUtDeus, I believe that modern-day psychology/psychiatry is in actuality an attack on the Catholic church using a concerted effort to eradicate the world of the concept of sin.

I believe it is the anti-sacrament of confession.  Confession acknowledges sin and asks forgiveness.  Psychology / Psychiatry in large part attempts to say there is no sin to confess.  It also denies free-will in as much as it allows one to escape culpability by placing blame on another.

Thus I do not accept as a pure science either psychiatry or psychology.

In the case at hand, we have a poster positing his/her many doctoral qualifications and using studies (without citation by the way) to deny observations made from a spiritual point of view by someone viewing the homosexual lifestyle through the lens of what it means to be a true Catholic.

When in fact, what 'alaric' said about his perception of the gay lifestyle being suicidal is a valid observation.  There are documented cases of what another poster has called a "bug chaser," someone who does not want to grow and had rather expire quickly to avoid the unpleasantness of aging thus attempts to catch HIV/AIDS.

I do not think is charitable in the least to allow 'dkpintar' to call 'alaric' a liar by relying on uncited studies which undoubtedly, ultimately derive from a science (which is based upon a secular attack on the Church) that not all accept as valid.  He may disagree on the basis of his secular sciences but at the end of the day God's truth triumphs and that is the point I was making and that is why I quoted St. Matthew.  God's thoughts are above our thoughts.  In heaven or hell, this 'wisdom' this 'science' will mean very, very little if at all.

Yes, I can burn my hand and learn to avoid fire.  I cannot though use that knowledge to justify or condone sin.  "Truth" cannot deny God's word.

So, I must disagree with you.  We have no obligation to accept a science which has proven itself as a foe of the Church and whose 'conclusions' are derived from the premise that there is no sin.

I also reject the "science" of evolution personally preferring creationism.

Much of homosexuality is basically a suicidal lifestyle and self depreciation, a sure sign of mental illness. The majority of these people have some serious psychological issues and chemical imbalances as well, I think the more research they do, the more they will find out that most of these people are just what people have always believed them to be, not "normal", [/QUOTE]

Also they engage in risky sexual behavior as well.

To defend oneself, one must also be ready to die. There is little such readiness in a society raised in the cult of material well-being. Nothing is left, then, but concessions, attempts to gain time, and betrayal.

Specifically, what research and studies are you referring to?

Does anyone think it's even possible, in the current politically correct climate, to get funding to do honest studies of homosexual activity and its causes?
