I just saw this thread posted on a certain forum that gives Neo-catholic answers *cough*:

Quote
I love reading stories about Hasidic rebbes and what they said, as well as learning about Hasdidic philosophy.

I don't agree with everything they say, but I think that there is a potential treasure chest of guidance and teachings which catholics would do well to look at.

 Your thoughts?
Ironically, this was posted someone with the user name "Narrow Path"!
As you might have guessed, most of the responses were more or less in favor of Catholics reading Hasidic writings for their "treasures", except for an Eastern Orthodox poster who replied:
Quote
When we say in the Creed that we believe in One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, it means (among other things) that we don't have to go nosing around outside of her for spiritual goodies or guidance.

*Sigh*, sometimes you just have to see something like this to remind yourself how far removed "conservative" NeoCatholics are from real Catholicism.

P.S. What do you think these NeoCatholics would say if you told them you read sedevacantist writings for their "treasures"?

Give it a shot under a different user name. see how many seconds till your banned. anyhoo I  did read Martin Bubers "tales of the Hasidim" You know Buber "I and thou" that fella.
Anyway. I read it before I woke up in the alley a trad (long tedious tale) i never turned back. the Hasidim are an interesting bunch as many fishies know I lived with one for years. but just because they have some bizarre prayer practices and strange belief in reincarnation doesn't mean catholics should read them on the contrary it means "Run fire run"
I don't really get the infatuation ok fine the tefilin is cool almost punk solipsist. Maybe some ecumenical heretics can start using it and bob the heads back and forth to get "into it" maybe we can call it a phalactral Rosary or something?
doc bombay what do you think?

oh, i don't know.  aquinas took quite a bit of stuff from a greek pagan by the name of aristotle.  and supposedly aquinas is the gold standard of catholic theology, though i find him less than helpful myself.  but that's just me.

theoretically, hasidics are closer to god (sorry g-d) than a buggering greek pagan, relatively speaking.  and it's all about relativism anyhoo.  sooo.........

what was the question again?

now if u'll excuse me, i have to go lengthen my phalactral rosary. i'm hoping papa ben adds another 5 mysteries or so.  give me an excuse to add more beads........

No. I'm Greco-Roman, born in the US of A. Baptized in the G.O. Church, I was received into full communion with the Roman See this year.

Never you mind the encyclicals and councils...those treasures are outdated.
