I agree with Andrew and HK. Classic western art is beautiful, but modern or "holy card" art leaves a lot to be desired. They are either effeminate or cartoonish looking. This is why more people (at least in our store) are turning to eastern icons of Jesus and Mary for their walls and home altars.

It's especially hard to find a decent image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. When you find one, grab it, whether it shows the Heart attached to the person or not. Here's one I have on my web site for the month of June, dedicated to the Sacred Heart. This is one of the better images, in my opinion.

A girly Jesus makes the Harlequin King cry.

And I say that as someone who could probably pass for a teenage girl if I had the right kind of wig.

Praying for the dead is important. PM me if you need a cantor for the Requiem Mass of a deceased friend or family member. Have cassock and surplice, will travel. (Will also do weddings for a reasonable price.)

I think the one in my sig is the best, except for the fact that it's blue. I encourage others to use it on their sig.

I think this one is quite powerful (it's based on a vision of Claire Ferchaud):

And this is by Dali ... I don't think one can call it effeminate:

Maybe not effeminate but bad just the same.
Looks like Bull Bunyan.

I always liked this one because it's based on Heinrich Hoffmann's portrayal of "Jesus and the Rich Young Man" and also "Christ at Thirty-Three."

Here is Heinrich Hoffmann's "Christ and the Rich Young Man."

Basically, didishroom's image of the Sacred Heart was a detail
of this Christ (the bust), with the heart painted over.
