But in my book, there are no unnecessary appendectomies. My 13 year old son had a ruptured appendix this summer and spent six weeks in the hospital. If I could get my other children's appendixes removed prophalactically, I would!
Well the surgeon we saw did say that when it's a child, they just take the appendix out at any sign of a problem because it's much more serious for them, and an adult has more time to be observed.
Friday night, there were five people in the ER, including Mr. Is Nice, for possible appendicitis, and only one, a twelve year old, had hers out immediately.
