Morning Offering

moneil:
There have been several threads here asking what people's favorite prayers and devotions are (and these have been among my favorite repeating threads).

One prayer frequently mentioned is the Morning Offering.  That is a devotion that I grew up with in parachoial school, and contintued to use off and on when I lived in a parish that either had the Apostleship of Prayer pamhplets in their literature rack, or posted the monthly intentions in the bulletin.

I returned to using that devotion on a regular basis a few years ago, and get the montly intentions of the Holy Father from the Apostleship of Prayer website.

Of course, the Morning Offering is a beautiful prayer to begin the day with, and it can be said without having the actual intentions of the Holy Father for that month.  Having just updated my Palm Pilot with the monthly intentions for 2009, I became curious what Fisheaters who say the Morning Offering do regarding the monthly intentions:
Pray for the general and missionary intentions of the current Holy Father (which in 2008 included intentions for the Eucharistic Congress and World Youth Day )?Say the Morning Offering without the general and missionary intentions?Use your own formulation for a general and missionary intention each month? Is there an apostolate or group that posts general and missionary intentions for use with the Morning Offering that some would consider more traditional?I'm just curious.

StrictCatholicGirl:
I still say the Morning Offering of the Apostleship of Prayer, including 1. the general and missionary intentions of the Holy Father for each month.

I seem to have misplaced my 2009 copy.. so I thank you kindly for the link.

Just how many versions are there of the Morning Offering, and what is the oldest form?

edomuret:
Most Holy and Adorable Trinity,
One God in Three Persons,
I firmly believe that Thou art here present.
I adore Thee with the most profound humility.
I praise Thee and give Thee thanks with all my heart for the favors Thou hast bestowed upon me.
Thy Goodness has brought me safely to the beginning of this day.
Behold O Lord, I offer Thee my whole being,
And in particular all my thoughts, words and actions,
Together with such crosses and contradictions as I may meet within the course of      this day.
Give them O' Lord Thy Blessing.
May Thy Divine Love animate them,
And may they tend to the greater honor and glory of Thy Divine Majesty.

Amen.

Countless.  I doubt we would be able to pinpoint the oldest form.   I think.
