Lifting this line.. 'cause it's one of the best and worth repeating.

Quote from: Bp Fellay
Thanks to this gesture, Catholics attached to Tradition throughout the world will no longer be unjustly stigmatized and condemned for having kept the Faith of their fathers. Catholic Tradition is no longer excommunicated.

It's a good day for the whole Church.

Fox News, after doing a good and accurate news flash about the matter earlier, just screwed up in a story they just broadcast. They parroted the line that Bishop Williamson "denies the holocaust" (inaccurate) and waxed on about Jewish-Catholic relations. They did report the Vatican spokesman "unsuccessfully" (because the press refuses to listen) trying to separate the two issues of the Bishop's statements and the lifting. The enemies of the Church have succeeded in making this a PR nightmare. That interview was filmed in early November and is JUST being released a day before the lifting.

Yeah, I about teared up when I read that.  I had to put that last sentence as my "facebook status."

Well, it would be just like you to drag your keyboard to a gunfight.

Don't panic yet. A new news cycle starts on Monday, and most of the world is still obsessed with their New Messiah (Pres. Obama) anyway. If the media is still talking about this on Tuesday, then maybe there's a problem.

There is a huge link to an article at NewAdvent, along with several other related articles:

"It preaches that not only in civil affairs, which is not Our concern here, but also in religion, God has given every individual a wide freedom to embrace and adopt without danger to his salvation whatever sect or opinion appeals to him on the basis of his private judgment.  The apostle Paul warns us against the impiety of these madmen" (Pope Leo XII, Ubi Primum, n. 12).

"Likewise, peace is rooted in respect for religious freedom, which is a fundamental and primordial aspect of the freedom of conscience of individuals and of the freedom of peoples.  It is important that everywhere in the world every person can belong to the religion of his choice and practise it freely without fear" (Pope Benedict XVI, Address to Five New Ambassadors, 18 May 2006).

I wish I were in LA. I'd nail a copy of this on the door of Mahoney's Cathedral.

LOL! Do we have any L.A. FishEaters out there? ;)

Right Here!

The only thing is:  Why place such a lovely Catholic document on a weird, ugly, pagan-looking door?

I'm about half tempted to stick a copy on the door of St Anthony's here in Beaumont.

A Minor Basillca should deserve something so deserving when the bishop allegedly shot down the formation of a society after the motu proprio.
