Does the traditional posture of prayer where we hold our hands in the position of palms facing inward with fingers extended have a specific name?

Good question.

I can just see it now being called: "The penitent's position" or something of a sort.

"The practice of the Church has always been the same, as is shown by the unanimous teaching of the Fathers, who were wont to hold as outside Catholic communion, and alien to the Church, whoever would recede in the least degree from any point of doctrine proposed by her authoritative magisterium" (Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, no.  9, June 29, 1896).

Not that I know of, but it's believed to have been derived from the early medieval custom of investiture. A fief was invested to a vassal by his lord by having the vassal kneel before the lord with his hands pressed together, while the lord places his own hands over them.

Praying for the dead is important. PM me if you need a cantor for the Requiem Mass of a deceased friend or family member. Have cassock and surplice, will travel. (Will also do weddings for a reasonable price.)

When I was child this was the regular prayer position. Two thumbs crossed meaning the Cross, and the extended fingers meaning that we, our body, is the temple of God.
