Obama invites friends, aides to seder dinner

Thursday Apr 9, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is inviting close friends and staff to a private White House meal Thursday to mark Passover, a signal that the new president intends to fulfill his promise that Jewish voters would have an ally.

Among the invited is Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama's closest advisers, and family friend Eric Whitaker, who is visiting from Chicago and attended a seder last year with the campaign. Michelle Obama and the family's two daughters also plan to attend.

The staff guest list includes aides from the campaign trail who marked last year's Passover at the Sheraton hotel in Harrisburg, Pa. Obama's personal aide, Reggie Love, Michelle Obama's deputy chief of staff, Melissa Winter, personal aide Dana Lewis and associate social secretary Samantha Tubman all received invitations.

Also on the guest list are Eric Lesser, a personal aide to senior adviser David Axelrod, and his family. Lesser worked during the New Hampshire primary and later handled baggage for traveling reporters. White House videographer Arun Chaudhary — a constant presence on the trail — landed invitations for his family.

Others in the exclusive group include Michelle Obama's counsel and friend Susan Sher; Herbie Ziskend, a staff assistant to Vice President Joe Biden's policy and economic advisers; and White House deputy director of advance and special events Lisa Kohnke.

Two of the administration's highest-profile members of the Jewish faith plan to miss the dinner. Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel doesn't plan to attend and Axelrod expects to be in Chicago with his family.

The White House says the seder meal will be traditional, including matzo, bitter herbs, a roasted egg and greens in the family dining room in the executive mansion. The evening will feature the reading of the Haggadah, the religious text of the holiday.

Passover began at sundown Wednesday. It celebrates the Jewish exodus from Egypt after 400 years of slavery.

White House aides say they believe this is the first president-hosted seder at the White House. President Bill Clinton's aides planned seders, but Clinton isn't known to have attended.

Obama's move won quick praise from the National Jewish Democratic Council.

"By hosting the first presidential seder in America's history, President Barack Obama shows the personal and deep relationship he has with the Jewish community," said Alexis C. Rice, the group's deputy executive director. "There is no question, Obama is a true friend of the Jewish community."

(This version CORRECTS SUBS 4th graf to correct spelling to Chaudhary. Seder scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT; event is closed to press.)

No sense of Christianity. Not a trace of the fact that the Old Law of Moses was fulfilled by the sacrifice of the New Covenant, by the institution of the Holy Eucharist, i.e. the unbloody renewal and perpetuation of the sacrifice of the Cross, and of the holy Priesthood by Our Lord and God Jesus Christ, the Messiah of Israel, on holy Thursday.

Obama is apparently also still under the yoke and slavery of sin, as Saint Paul spoke of the Jewish observances.

No wonder, if you are an abortion president in the United States, where 100,000s of unborn are killed every year.

Quote from: 1 John 2
Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that Antichrist cometh, even now there are become many Antichrists: whereby we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would no doubt have remained with us; but that they may be manifest, that they are not all of us. 20 But you have the unction from the Holy One, and know all things. 21 I have not written to you as to them that know not the truth, but as to them that know it: and that no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father, and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father. He that confesseth the Son, hath the Father also. 24 As for you, let that which you have heard from the beginning, abide in you. If that abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning, you also shall abide in the Son, and in the Father.
25 And this is the promise which he hath promised us, life everlasting.

Just look how the (controlled) mass media are cheering over Obama's 'openness' towards the Jewish community. Of course if he were invited himself by Jewish friends or aides, he could attend. So would I. But I would not do so, without mentioning Christ at least once to the Jews. My secularized Jewish friends no longer observe Jewish passover.

In fact, most Jews know they cannot eat a sacrificed lamb from the holy temple in Jerusalem anymore.

But Mr Barack Husein Obama is actively staging a seder meal himself. Not even Bush Jr. did this, and he was a true Evangelical Zionist. Obama is supposedly Christian - not that this means a lot today.

Bad yes, but least we forget, Bush authorized RU 486 and had 1,000,000 abortions prior to and after his time as Prez....no change there.

Also, he was a zionist supporter and held Rahmadan services in White House for Muslims..........

Are we surprised?  For Obama, as for Blair, religion is not a matter of truth or falsehood.  It's a useful tool to forge  social cohesion:

"Whatever we once were, we're no longer a Christian nation. At least not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, and a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers ... Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal rather than religion-specific values. ... Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who've been all too eager to exploit what divides us."  - Barack Obama

If your primary concern is with the here and now, social harmony and personal fulfilment are what matter, not truth.  Truth is by definition divisive.

This goes double for all those off-the-rails 'catholic' parishes who hold 'seders' in the spirit of the disordered (to put it mildly) 'ecumenism' brought to us by Nostra Aetate.

Heaven is a REWARD, not a RIGHT.

Every truly pagan society has, at it's core, some form of human sacrifice. In today's world, it's abortion.

Almost certainly Obama's mother was Jewish. According to the civil law of Israel, one is Jew through his/her mother.

Also less than 15% of those who call themselves Jews keep the rules of their religion at least as a principle.

Obama may have many things to criticize, primaryly the reckless sellout of this country to the money lenders, but to keep the customs of his mother is not for us to judge. Every single people ha right to his/her traditions.

If we want our traditions to be accepted, we shall accept the traditions of others.

Peacefull easter for everybody, who belives in the resurrection

I wonder if this will endear him to Mo's followers?  "One of us", indeed!
