Hello everyone,

I am sort of new with trying to buy reading material over the web from other countries, specifically with places that do not provide C.C. payments, so I don't know exactly what to expect when undergoing such transaction.

What would be the best advisable transaction methods that you know about?

Of course, money transfer schemes are out of the question due to their lack of checks to guarantee a transaction.

¿Would there be other reliable options besides C.C. transactions?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Internation money order, PayPal (although, I would recommend PayPal as a last resort only for reasons I won't go into here unless asked) or other direct payments.

If you cannot trust a seller, I recommend not using them. Try to find a seller if you can which does accept payment methods you prefer.

Not a worry then, I perfectly understand so I won't ask. Way to go!
Also, so far it seems I found an alternative for such transaction.

Thanks for the attention!
Cheers!

I don't understand so I am asking?

There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.

They are not as great as they claim. They can be quite handy, but they are frusterating beyond belief.

Perhaps this subject is best for another thread, so I'll keep it short. A few gripes:

* They lock payments for an unreasonable amount of time. Users routinely cannot access their money, which for people who make things for money, is severely limiting because it limits the ability to get supplies.
* They charge for everything you do, and since they are owned by Ebay, using them with ebay results in you getting hit twice for your money
* They are not a bank, so they do not have the protections of a bank

Some of these apply to sellers (the first), ebay users (the second) and everyone (the third).

I have purchased books from Poland via the FSSPX's Te Deum bookstore and Sanctus of Poland bookstore. Both times I used PayPal because the contacts wanted it this way for international buyers. In both cases, I received top notch service and I appreciate both works in Poland to distribute good Catholic books (though I'm quite unsure of why Sanctus carries Fr. Knotz's work). Communication and making sure the bookstore is legit are the top issues.
