This morning was good, but then I got up.

I am a Knight and a former officer.  I have backed away from involvement just this year because I decided last December to attend only the Traditional Latin Mass.  Since my council is in a good NO church, the members are mostly devout men it was difficult.  When I told  them I would not not be active, but would remain a member because I was going to attend only the TLM Mass, which is in a different parish,  I got  a few "Oh Boy's"!   Maybe they think I joined a new religion or became one of those crazy traditionalists.

 Crazy Crazy

Does one have to attend the same parish as their council is chartered at? Just asking as FSSP here doesn't have a parish or KofC attach to them. For some reason KofC just doesn't attract me, but seems to be the only viable organization like it here in the US. I guess I would prefer a KofC that was a Third Order instead of an independent organization.

As a corollary to that.... (it being a slight diversion from the topic)...
Would it be wise to join the KoC in one place, knowing that you'll be gone the following year or two for (probably) ever, and moving elsewhere?  (I graduate college in about one to 1.5 years, and am thinking about joining the KoC).??  Thanks:-D

I don't think that would be a problem, if you intended to maintain being apart of KofC at your new location after graduation. I guess that is a "pro" concerning the KofC since there is a good chance there will be a council wherever you move to in the US.

No. It is not unusual to have someone join from one parish while attending a Council hosted at another parish. Often this is because the Knight's parish might not have a council or perhaps the Knight has friends in one parish's council but not in the others.

Additionally, the membership card is honored worldwide, so it's not necessary to transfer. For example, Cardinal Levada did not transfer his membership down from Washington, even when he was Archbishop of San Francisco. He left his membership in the council where he joined. This is particularly true of servicemen and college students.

I am still a member and helped with the Corpus Christie parade we have.  But I will be unavailable  for many activities as they take place Sundays.  Yes we have members from 3 or 4 parish's.   I am also stepping back to discern if I stay with the diocesan TLM or go to the SSPX .
