I knew you'd say that! Actually, I thought Rosarium would say it first.  ;)

No, I am no fan or supporter of the NO, I only defend it when attacks on they bleed over onto the Church itself.

Those masses are a direct result of the writings of VII, although the writings do not include that, the spirit of some who wrote them is like that. Although the NO rubrics should be held, the authorities in the Church have, for a long time, treated them as guidelines, rather than rules, probably quite in line with the intent of the writers (I've seen some of the other things written by those writers...).

Well, I didn't mean that you would defend it; I meant that I thought you would be the first to comment on the technical inaccuracy of the title.

Yes, the rubrics themselves do not provide instructions for these abuses; but, as you said, the spirit of the drafters, when logically concluded, seems to allow freedom within form.

"The practice of the Church has always been the same, as is shown by the unanimous teaching of the Fathers, who were wont to hold as outside Catholic communion, and alien to the Church, whoever would recede in the least degree from any point of doctrine proposed by her authoritative magisterium" (Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, no.  9, June 29, 1896).

But what did you think of that clown "Mass" in the "Blasphemous Liturgical Abuses" video? That, followed by the Holloween "Mass" featuring Barney, and finally by those freak-ish looking puppets had me sick to my stomach with disbelief.

I wonder about the women "priests" clip.  Aren't there protestant sects who have female priests and who have "eucharistic" celebrations, too?  How do we know they were trying to pull off a legitimate Catholic mass on that one?  Don't get me wrong, I'm still cleaning the puke off my computer, but I do wonder about that one.

Yeah, I'm not sure. There seemed to be a few questionable clips, but after having seen that clown "Mass", Holloween "Mass" featuring Barney, and finally by those freak-ish looking puppets, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I buy it. Everytime those 'womyn priest' people 'ordain' a bunch of priestesses they always have a big 'Eucharistic celebration' after they're done.

Really? Is that the clip to which he is referring? It looked very Protestant, but these 'womyn priests' profess to be Catholic as ardently as you or I.

Yes, these are unquestionably disturbing, of course. But are the worst abuses (1) only Germany and/or Austria, and are any of these recent or taken from the silly season of the 70's and 80's? Perhaps it's wishful thinking but I find it difficult to believe these horrible abuses are still taking place anywhere (except in Linz, which can hardly be called Catholic anymore).

I guess what I'm asking is whether these scenes are representative of the NO today.

From what I have been able to observe in a short but attentive life as a Catholic, I think they are not representative anymore. There's still too much mayhem and foolishness going on out there (any is too much), but the worst of it is passing with the biological solution, and the rest of it will go almost as quickly, as the Faith in protestantized NO parishes flickers out while the flames are fanned in NO parishes that want to be robustly Catholic.

That said, I won't watch the videos themselves because I have been told what is in them. I may be out of my first trimester but it's still far too easy to set off the old trigger.  Puke

Your prudence in this situation is most wise.

I agree that they're certainly not the norm now, but they still exist.  Notice in the video (second from the bottom) one of the clown "Masses" has a date in the bottom right corner.  The date shown is 2002.  So at least 7 years ago there was one.

How can he say this with honest ignorance?
