This morning was good, but then I got up.

Anybody here do woodworking of some kind? I had built a very sturdy plain bench a few years ago, but hadn't done anything since I had moved into an apartment. But today I picked up a Nobex Miter Saw for $110 off and looking to build some indoor furniture stuff like a hat and coat stand and perhaps an altar with built in folding kneeler.

I carved my mom a teapot when I was in shop class in sixth grade.  That's about it for me  LOL

My grandfather has been a carpenter since he was a young boy. He built entire houses back in the old days. We've built a bed, and repair folks furniture when they bring it into his shop, I enjoy it but working alongside a master woodworker is a little discouraging for a novice!  ;D

I'd like to commission someone to make me a wooden case for my iPhone. I'd ultimately like to have something like this:

Praying for the dead is important. PM me if you need a cantor for the Requiem Mass of a deceased friend or family member. Have cassock and surplice, will travel. (Will also do weddings for a reasonable price.)

I don't think I'd want that in my pocket.

I bought some wood and began working on a kneeler for my mother as a Christmas present... apparently, I haven't finished it ...it's in my garage collecting dust half way done....this post reminded me... thanks. I think i'll go home and work on it now ;;)

p.s.

Altar sounds great! Make sure to post pics of it on here so all us fishies can seeeee!

It maybe ambitious, but I was going to try for one of those altars with the kneeler that folds up into the altar that I have seen a couple of people on here post. Since I live in an apartment I think that would be ideal to save space.

You carved a teapot? Amazing! I don't suppose it can be used. ... Can it?

Try this link: http://www.bearswoodshop.com/ Use the sidebar and click "unfinished kneelers." He does all the cutting. You assemble, sand, and finish.

I piddle around with it from time to time. I have a small benchtop table saw and a benchtop drill press. A cheap router, a drill, and a jigsaw. The problem is, every time I think of doing something, I get stalled because I really need bigger saws as well as a jointer and a planer. I took woodshop in high school, and I worked part time in a cabinet shop through work experience. So I'm spoiled. I know what I can do, I just don't have the means to do it!
