Do you find your experience similar to the Baptists who play WoW?
Quote
Billy Houston, a Landover Baptist Senior High youth, has been sharing Jesus in the virtual gaming world for over three years. "I evangelized in Lineage 2, Everquest, Diablo, and a bunch of other games," he says, "but I haven't seen nearly as many people who are as open to hearing the Gospel message as I have inside the World of Warcraft." For Christian adults reading this article who are not familiar with the World of Warcraft, young Billy has what gamers call, a Level 67 Undead Priest with nearly 40 points of concentrated focus in the Holy talent tree. "I'm also in one of the largest Christian guilds on our server," he says. "I think the reason so many people are open to hearing about Jesus in the World of Warcraft is because the majority of people who play the game are lonely kids who don't have any friends. I doubt any of them play sports so you can pretty much guess that there are lots of sissy gay boys and fat little pale-faced Wiccan girls on the servers who hate themselves and escape into virtual characters so they don't have to deal with their pathetic lives. When they hear that someone loves them, even if it is just the Lord Jesus Christ, they always want to hear more!"
...
Baptist Pastors say that young Christian gamers are attracted to the World of Warcraft because they are able to live out their faith in the same way the early True Christians™ did, before their religion was sissified by liberalism, science, and political correctness.  "It is such a rush to kill other players who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as Lord," says one gamer. "I feel like I can really practice my faith the way God intended it.  It is like I'm fighting alongside Christians of old, instead of  the pansies and sissies from my Sunday school class."

No, man!  I just like playin' games.  When I can't find a good book to read, there's always plenty of the fantasy element in today's games.

Look, our fathers hooped and hollered about baseball and football while we were growin' up!  I remember growing up, and my dad would be watching Hulk Hogan and the Hulkamaniacs on TV!  Now, new things have come about for our generation, and games simply are one of em!  It's fun to play!

Hmph. Playing video games is serious. A real gamer doesn't play for fun, but for a cause. Down with the Covenent!

Actually, about 40% of all women in the U.S. play video games at least casually.

Centipede and Windows Solitaire don't count.

Seriously, though, here's a good article about the sloppy science and reporting here.  http://www.fathead-movie.com/index.php/2009/08/24/odds-ends-or-duck-duck-goose/    As usual, they find a correlation and assume causation---and causation in the particular direction that supports their beliefs.  In truth, it's a lot more likely that fat, depressed 35-year-olds choose to stay home and play video games than that playing video games makes them fat and depressed.

Since the Wii came out, women, children and less-than-masculine-men have found a way to play video games.

Well...he's a man, barely. The PS3 is for n00bs. XBoxen are much better.

It is strange, that Nintendo could make the best "old" system for FPS (N64) then devise the most pathetic gaming system (Wii). Ah well, the XBox is continuing what the N64 showed.
