O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I have offended Thee, My God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, do penance and sin no more. Amen.

I just wish "heartily" didn't sound so much like "hardly".

The Church is intolerant in principle because she believes;
she is tolerant in practice because she loves.
The enemies of the Church are tolerant in principle because they do not believe;
 they are intolerant in practice because they do not love.

Usually, the one that's posted, unless there's none; in that case, whatever approximation I can best choke out of the "choosing to do wrong and failing to do good" one, as I have a tendency to stammer and forget things.

I haven't memorized it yet either.  Last week, the confessor had to guide me through it because it wasn't posted...  Embarrassed

"But Christianity preaches an obviously unattractive idea, such as original sin; but when we wait for its results, they are pathos and brotherhood, and a thunder of laughter and pity; for only with original sin we can at once pity the beggar and distrust the king." -- G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936)
