A student of mine has asked me an interesting question (I love those students!).  We've been discussing the concept of Petrine supremacy and he asked me what the source was for Peter having actually been in Rome during Nero's persecution.  I initially told him that it was in the Book of Acts, but then I checked and could find no reference to Peter being there.  Indeed, the text doesn't even have Paul in Rome.

I know that this has to be documented somewhere, but I need some help in finding it.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Look at the section called "Activity and death in Rome; burial place" for references.

Peter was first in Rome in the forties establishing the church in Rome, and he suffered martyrdom under Nero.
