All I can say to that is: God works in mysterious ways. You talk to a Jew, think about the Church, log in here for lulz, etc. If you're not careful you'll say a Rosary next.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is "lulz"? I was trying to figure this out when I first read it. I assumed it was supposed to be the plural of "lol", but that doesn't really make sense, I discarded my guess.

To the Dude:
If you are bound and determined to leave, no one can stop you. But first you owe it to yourself to read 1 book, it will take you maybe 3-4 hours. Its called "Preparation For Death" written by a great doctor of the Church, St Alphonus Liguori If you can read that and still be sure you must leave; so be it. But you do owe it to yourself to read that book. Amazon should have it. What do you have to lose; maybe a few $$$.

Of all people I figured you'd be the one to not get used to it. How can one "log in for [multiple] 'laugh out loud s'"? Maybe I could understand moments in which one laughed out loud, but somehow my brain is resisting the idea of plural verbage. Then again, I'm one to talk, right? Me and my improper use of the subjunctive mood... I've been meaning to ask you to provide examples of my misuse of the mood. I know I have before, but I was wondering if you could show where I have on the forum. That will help show me where my tendencies are. PM will spare me the embarassment, but I suppose that's good for me.

Back to "The Dude": You probably wouldn't have posted here again unless you were at least a little interested in the Church; I'll pray for you 'cause God wants you.

I'm sure this has been said before:
No one ever claimed that Judas was not among the Apostles; a man who's very name has come to mean traitor.
We are sinners, and saints, even among the traditionalists, from the first generation to the last.
"Judge me, O Lord, and distinguish my cause from the nation which is not holy."

Bloggers were invented ca. 300 AD. and were originally called "monks." Like their distant social descendants, monks had horrible haircuts, rarely left their home, spoke a language to eachother no one else understood, and never went on dates.

Since the beginning people have had their feelings hurt and been disappointed in religion. It can really hurt. Let's see...there was the time I went to confession, believing with all my heart it was Jesus Himself behind the screen...what a great set up!. The priest had his laptop and recognizing my voice went on to look up my family about financial contributions. I explained my husband was a musician and work fell off in the summer, we lived on 20,000 a year with 3 children...gave without envelopes...yada-yada...to no avail. Jesus was not impressed and I got a long lecture on waste and greed for luxuries. I won't bore you with more. Here in Savannah you would have been turned away from church for being SOBER! Many priests play 4 rounds of golf every week and play the stock market on the internet. This is known as the Palm Beach of the church here. So here's what I did...pay attention: Even though I am an enthusiastic convert (1973) I just pooped out, going to a friendly Episcopal church, reading books. Then one Sunday my grandaughter (whom I baptized myself as no priest would do it here) and I went to Krispy Kreme and passed the Vietnamese parish. A Vietnamese girl smiled at us and I thought...why not? I don't drink, I'm not old Irish, I don't hate England... Also I don't get on with good people...my best friends here have been dying homosexuals with a strong faith. Some of us are never going to be grand marshalls on the St. Patrick's day parade! That was several years ago. Fr. Kim Nguyen baptized both grandchildren with me and their uncles as godparents. And I didn't have to buy him a vacation in Bermuda to do it. We don't understand a word, but we are part of the parish. My point is: think outside the box.. Go to an inner city black parish and sing the Baptist hymns with them. Go where there is LIFE and you will be fed with both Sacrament and spirit. But stay Catholic....or at least remember Mary and the rosary. On a evangelical website a young lady said she dreamed the Father told her: "THEY HAVE THROWN OUT AS TRASH THE WOMAN I GAVE MY SON!" She was puzzled and I filled her in very sweetly... There are many fads in the Church today, requiring money, time and travel...but I ask, "How would I evangelize a Chinese slave of 14 working 7 day weeks making shoes?" Yet in the beginning those were the very people Jesus appealed to most. Avoid cliques and fads and special masses and travel for the well to do. No I don't hate Irish people, but they have sure snubbed me and mine a lot. With these sex abuse scandals many people are tempted to leave in repulsion. Our hurt feelings are little compared to the victims of sex abuse from men in collars. One more thing...make a little shrine in your home...wear a medal...these things have been great helps to people who missed church for years due to rejection, prison, war...All the best to you.
