funds and connections are basically prerequisites.

Thats basicly what I found too when I looked into the knights of Malta. To bad we cant just arrange another crusade against the Muslims and be Templars again. Though I wouldnt want to be a celibate so that kinda takes me out of the Templars.

Increasingly, I think only a crusade will enable the West to face the Jihadist threat squarely.

But we digress.

3,000 should have some mystic significance to your Order, because it's founding prinicples can be found in your 3000th post.

YOUR RIGHT. We'd have three thousand degrees. All soundly Catholic of course.

3,000 degrees? better call it the Mystic Catholic Knights of the Harlequin Baskervillian Order of Thermite!

FidemScit, your name deserves a fishie!

The name comes to me courtesy of my old Latin teacher. It means "He knows faith", but depending on how you pronounce it, it might be interpreted altogether differently.

I think it's great that you think there's a 'demand' for chivalric orders.  LOL

 Aww, there now

Okay, it's kind of a niche market.

But I mean, I inquired once into joining the Knights of Malta, but since the main requirement seems to be being rich and having friends in the right places, and more often than not a European, I can see why the next best thing would be to just start your own order.

Yes, we should form our own order and go to Rome and demand to be recognized.  I wouldn't mind wearing a plume hat and carrying a rapier around with me  Smile

Lets do it. I am with you I looked into Joining the Knights templar once thats how I first found out a lot about Freemasonry(and found how odd it is). I also looked into the Knights of Malta. We could call ourselves the Mystic Catholic Knights of the Harlequin Baskervillian order. We could design medals and suits( I am thinking something out of Amadeus) and wear Those Knights of Columbus hats chapos (misspelled) of course we would need to wear powdered wigs too. You could hook me up there.
Come on, guys.  If you want an order of knights, you should be decked out in armor (or at least chain mail) with medieval weapons and stuff!  We want a crusade right?
You should really go dig up and bump the melee weapons thread...

If you spend all your time with costuming, no one will take you seriously (well, at least I won't).  Though it could be cool.  I never did understand why the wigs are all powdered and white...

Anyway, I suppose something bullet-proof would be more practical these days.  Though didn't the Swiss Guard start carrying machine guns for awhile in WWII?

the Swiss Guard carry submachine guns. But they're also still trained experts in the use of the halberd and other melee weapons as well.
I heard it said that they are quite possibly the most elite military force in the world, although i would say that the requirement of being Swiss descent might count against that lol.

Hasn't our own Jovan already founded an order of chivalry? I'm pretty sure he has. Perhaps they need reinforcements. Smile

How many 1st and 2nd Degree Knights of Columbus do you meet, either?  Heck, you get to 3rd degree by your 3rd or 4th meeting, and only the hopelessly lazy or apathetic (such as myself) don't hang around long enough to go through the folderol to make 4th.

Prob'ly the same deal with the Masons.
I'm only a 1st degree Knight of Columbus. Although, I plan on becoming a 3rd.
