Does anyone here make their own soap (bath bombs, lotions, etc)?

And if so...and there are enough of us...would anyone be interested in a round robin?

This is similiar to a cookie swap, but it's done through the mail.

I guess we'd have to get started now if everything is going to be cured in time for Christmas gifts...

The more the merrier, but I'm guessing at least 5 people would be nice -

I make soap as a Christmas gift.  I'd be interested in a swap or in sharing ideas

I've never made soap, but these bath salts are terrific: http://hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Make-Bath-Salts-Guide-and-Recipe (make sure you also read this and this).

How difficult is it to make soap?

I make Marseille soap with olive oil.  It's one of the more difficult varieties because you can't really see trailings well.  I find it quite easy.  There's the chemicals and the fat, bring to the right temp, then blend well.  Stir until your arm is ready to fall off, then hand over to the hubby.  Put into a bin, let try (stirring every day).  Then, mill and scent.  It's time consuming but fun.  Smile

man...great!

I'll be back later, and I can fill y'all in with more details -

Smile!!!

Fontevrault - it is fun!

And the end product is wonderful... next time try a stick blender - you'll get results in 20 minutes instead of 2 hours, believe it or not!

 Smile

ecc:

time consuming, but easy... and addictive.

bath salts and bombs are pretty easy too.

I would definitely be interested in a soap swap!!!  I might do glycerin with flowers or milk soap with oats. I would love to get my hands on some goat milk and try that out!!

How about everyone respond on the list or PM  by November 1 telling me what they're planning on making?

send 2 or 3 choices just in case someone else is making a similiar soap.

Soaps, bath salts/bombs, lip stuff, etc...

Whatever you make can be sent wrapped or not - sometimes it's fun seeing how other people package their soap.

edit: send 2 or 3 choices for recipes ON EMAIL - that way, if someone is making coffee soap, and you had that written down as your first choice but had vetiver as your second, we can switch things around so there won't be duplicates. That way, we'll have more variety in the final box.

make sense?

If anyone still wants to be in the soap swap, PM please.

We already have some people, but the more the merrier.

Latecomers are welcome, but whoever wants to be in this should start cooking pretty soon if they want their stuff cured by early December... otherwise you have to send your soap in with huge "DO NOT USE UNTIL...." stickers.

Thanks, ladies!

(and men, if they feel like it)

Libby, my husband just got a new job and there's new paperwork for our adoption due shortly.  I'm not sure I'm going to get a batch of soap done anytime soon.  I'm sorry!  I just need to help Pilgrim sort some things out with his new teaching position (I type 95 words a minute and he uses two fingers  Smile  ) and get the paperwork for the adoption done.  We drove an our to one place that is supposed to process the paperwork and they had changed their times without notice.  The result, we now have to take time off from work in order to get the paperwork in.
