Bombay, someday I've gotta see your record collection....

(Yes, I said record.  I'm old).

The good doctor is old too, but he's of the generation to still value CDs.  Imagine if a top-40 radio DJ in the middle 90's copped the CD collection.

I bet it's similar.

Aw - there's got to be a few 8 tracks in his collection. Smile

I have neither records nor 8 tracks and most of my cd's were indeed comp copies...but if record companies are going to hand them out like Night Train at an AA convention, who am I to turn them down?  Anyhoo....if I had known I'd someday be able to download all my music free from the internet, I never would've paid for anything.  God bless technology.

I remember my first 8-track.  AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

8-tracks were horrible except for dance music where you wanted it to loop endlessly.  I still remember RadioShack making 8-track players in various colors to compliment their Flavor-Radios (9v Transistor radios in different colors).

Were "dance music" 8-tracks somehow immune to the annoying track-switching-during-the-middle-of-a-song syndrome that plagued my 8-track cassettes?

Those!  Ugh.  Thank goodness they didn't last very long.

I wouldn't know.  When other people were dancing to disco I was listening to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.  Shrug

Yeah, but compared to the compact cassettes that replaced them, the 8-tracks (and the 4-tracks, too) had better sound quality, whilst listening to them on the... "Hi Fi."   LOL

LOL  Nothing beat the stereo console!  For 20 years that chunk of furniture made my living room look smaller.  But it provided countless musical nights of dancing to Jackson 5 records and mimicking scenes from West Side Story and My Fair Lady.

I wasn't very successful with tapes.  My recorder ate them for lunch..
