Look at this one, Scipi.   July 1942.

Look at the price.  10 cents an issue and $4.50 a year's subscription (published weekly  :o).

Lisa, I actually got to read that one when I was growing up.  My dad collected old magazines and had a couple of hundred Life magazines from the 1930's and 1940's.

Here's one from my birthday

I love it, Joamy!  Thanks for sharing your LIFE.  Although the print on that picture is too small to read, the photo of the President gives us an idea of how old you are too.   LOL

I remember watching the first moon landing very clearly.  I was 14.  We knew it was history in the making and I can't describe the feeling.  It was just awesome.

Just for perspective, the average American salary in 1942 was $1,299 per year....at least according to the internet which is a well known and reliable source of information.  Sneaky

"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

I remember watching it as well.  Black and white TV of course.  It was hot that day.

I also remember that the local Marathon gas station (you know, where a service guy would come out, pump your gas, and clean your windows while you waited in the car to pay for your 35 cents a gallon gas) sold collector's drinking glasses that had pictures on them of the various space happenings that were taking place during those years.
