How does one post an image or two?   Huh?    I made an attempt using the "insert image" icon but was unsuccessful.  Thank you.

First, the image has to be hosted. It has to be on a server. If it is on a web page, it can be posted by hotlinking, that is, copying its address and using the image tags to post it.

For example, this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf The first image of a wolf can be posted by copying its address (right click it and copy it, exactly how depends on the browser). The image is also a link, so make sure to copy the image's address. It is this:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5a/Canis_lupus_265b.jpg/180px-Canis_lupus_265b.jpg

To make that an image on the forum, highlight it, and press the link, thus:

If the image is on your computer, upload it to a host, like http://imageshack.us/ (no account needed, free, has useful features, will give you the code you need). If it is a large image, use thumbnails.
