The next time someione posts one of these..."Man's place" things...I'm gonna loudly announce that a man's place is behind a woman....from time to time...

LOL.  I'm leaving that one alone.

Women are less capable of administering discipline than a man.

I strongly disagree with this statement...he obviously hasn't ever met a Madea-style momma.   LOL

[snip]

In the short time before that video came up on the screen I thought a "Madea-style momma" administering discipline would be more like this: http://ancienthistory.about.com/od/women1/ss/021009Mothers_2.htm.

Man, was I relieved.

If you're calling it the "woman's forum" because there's a vid of Ana Vidovic,  then yes.

but I personally find it very offensive when dudes like this (almost invariably Protestant) say that women aren't fit for leadership because of our being emotional.

Old Catholic Europe did not consider women fit for leadership, especially leadership over men.

It's not a protestant thing.

You misunderstood. My problem is not that he objects to women having leadership over men, but his reasoning, which is indeed typically Protestant. The only reason anyone who believes in the Bible needs for men running the Church is, well, the Bible and the reason the Bible gives, which isn't that women are full of hormones, too moody, or too controlled by emotions. It isn't necessary to insult women in order to defend this position.

Besides, women in old Catholic Europe did have positions of leadership within their own sphere. I'm thinking of Teresa of Avila, for instance.
