Thanks to a crashed computer, I have lost my amazing Castille game, so I've started a game as Muscowy.

HK, have you done AAR's before?  There are some good ones on the paradox forum - in fact, a Muscowy one there inspired me to start my current game...and has me considering the idea of making my game an AAR (I'm only a few years into the game so far).

I tired HOI and just didn't like the feel of it at all...didn't seem to really be my thing.

How has Victoria II turned out?

How has Victoria II turned out?

After their first patch, excellent.  It still feels a bit groundless (ie less event driven so it goes into bizarre directions), but its very fun.  AI is kinda stupid;  while the UK was fighting pointless wars, as France I colonized most of Africa with no competition.

What time span does it cover?  How does the play time per game compare to EU?

1836-1936,  Gameplay time is probably 10-12 hours for the entire hundred years depending on play speed.  I highly recommend it.

I have EU2 I know there is a third that comes out years ago, still I am insanely addicted to the game when I am home to play it.  I hate the bugs they have in them, when I played EUI it crashed just as much as EU2 has, from what I hear that seems to be common in most paradox games.

Anyhow, I always liked starting as a some nameless principality and build into an empire that crushes France, England, and  the Turks

I'm playing a game of EU3 as England right now.  I've conquered all of the British Isles except Orkney.  I've also managed to make vassals of Brittany and Koeln (Brittany was an ally of one of the Irish OPM I conquered and Koeln was allied with France who keeps attacking me since I still have two territories that France has cores on, and I didn't particularly want to annex Continental territory since I've gearing myself for a colonial game.  I tried to make Brandenburg a vassal (it was also allied with France) but I lost my cavalry unit, so that did not work out so well...capture two of their four territories before being forced into a position when a white peace was my best option (I had 46% over them in the war, but they wouldn't give me anything since they were going to be able to retake their territory).

I've been pulled into way with Gotland by Sweden (and Norway is defending Gotland) so hopefully I'll be able to take Orkney and both Icelandic territories from Norway soon.  Within the next couple of decades (max) I should be able to start colonizing my way around the world - hopefully grabbing the Azores and heading for the Caribbean, North America, and South Africa before anyone else can beat me there.  Smile

Would love to hear about others' games.

For those still addicted to EU2, try For the Glory.

"THE LORD is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 26:1)

"And we, too, being called by His will in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, nor by our own wisdom, or understanding, or godliness, or works which we have wrought in holiness of heart; but by that faith through which, from the beginning, Almighty God has justified all men; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." — Clement, bishop of Rome

"I love truth," says he, "and not sects. I am sometimes a peripatetic, a stoic, or an academician, and often none of them; but—always a Christian. To philosophise is to love wisdom; and the true wisdom is Jesus Christ. Let us read the historians, the poets, and the philosophers; but let us have in our hearts the gospel of Jesus Christ, in which alone is perfect wisdom and perfect happiness." — Petrarch

I only gave in and purchased EU3 after having lost my original EU2 disc to loaning it to a friend and having lost my second EU2 disc to some sort of black magic that keeps in from working...

What is For the Glory?  What time period and such?

EU3 is only like 10 dollars on amazon, but I am hardly home to use it the desktop and they are notoriously resistant to be playing on the laptop alas my brief time with EU2 is all I get
