Roman Pontiffs have said that revealing dress is sinful and that this does not change with time or fashion

That doesn’t answer my question regarding culture. "The pope says so," isn't convincing by itself.

What do you expect on a traditional catholic forum? For catholics that should be an acceptible answer.

The Pope said (essentially) go to Novus Ordo Mass.

While the sin of wearing immodest clothing does not change....what is considered modest does.

At the fall, a topless mini skirt was the measure of modesty for women according to the Bible....before the fall...full nudity....was OBJECTIVELY modest...so there is no religious standard of modest clothing....

This has been pretty well demonstrated over many posts...

So notions of what is and is not revealing change according to time place culture and situation.

The Minoans had the topless thing going on...so does that make them better Catholics than us??...LOL

By a resounding vote, I dare say yes.

I think this kind of advice on modesty is much more effective and to the point than the "two-finger rule."

Of course women should have respect for themselves and those around them and not go around with everything hanging out all the time...at best, it's embarrassing, and we live in a world where women are far too easily seen as nothing more than lust-objects for men. That in itself should be enough reason to cover up.

I just get sick and tired of people banging the modesty drum all the time like it's the only thing that matters. How about the fact that Hasidic Jews hate Christ and the Catholic Church? Maybe they'll put up "no Christians" signs in their front yards. What then? These people don't have the true faith, and when they pull a stunt like this anyone with sense should question their motives...obviously, they're not doing this out of concern for people's souls, because if they cared about anyone's soul they would become Catholic. So, it's a power trip. I'm not impressed.

"Tenthly, one should pour tea into the cup first. This is one of the most controversial points of all; indeed in every family in Britain there are probably two schools of thought on the subject. The milk-first school can bring forward some fairly strong arguments, but I maintain that my own argument is unanswerable. This is that, by putting the tea in first and stirring as one pours, one can exactly regulate the amount of milk, whereas one is liable to put in too much milk if one does it the other way round."

If Catholicism is the worship of Goodness - something that is admittedly lost on many Christians - then would be a positive ecclesiastical contribution to culture.

I finally looked at that picture. I don't have much of an opinion about the tank top -- could have been higher in the back, sure -- but the shorts were too short, too tight, and designed to show the shape of each cheek. Modesty isn't the most important thing, indeed, but wearing an outfit like that is a sin against charity.

modesty is a fruit of the faith not a core tenent ( to mix a metephor)
if modesty is lacking then the faith must as well to some degree. If you say you belive in tge real presence of God in the host, then why would come to church w your boobs and but hanging out.
