I should not need to explain this to someone who claims to be an adult.  Catholicism is not for geniuses, it's for everyone, and if you study and pray and use your common sense you can avoid many of the traps that Satan has laid out for you.

It's a good thing that you showed up at FE.  And to think that we all thought we were actually Catholic until you came to enlighten us.

See what I mean?  This is a pattern for you.

Would Jesus observe a bloodsport like football?

Oh my gosh, dude.  Are you serious?

Yes I am.

Are there any sports you're ok with?

Yes, sports that do not directly result in the injury of human or animal participants as a matter of course, except when the contest is intended solely to improve an individual's skill for a practical purpose and not for entertainment (such as sparring to improve self-defense techniques).

The following are likely sinful to indulge in:
American football (full contact)
Boxing
Violent wrestling (but not traditional wrestling)
Cockfighting
Auto racing
Hockey

What exactly are you basing this on? Or, is this just an excuse for your complete lack of athletic ability and pain threshold?

Common sense.

Common sense? My common sense tells me that you're a jansenist or a wuss.

Please cite some actual Church teachings on the matter. Otherwise, your opinion is worthless.

Uh... your avatar is the dude from Castlvania. Would Jesus approve of playing a video game where you kill people.

Are you just being a troll or do you seriously believe that there is nothing wrong with deriving entertainment from watching others injure themselves and each other?

Dude and I say that with a question mark. Walty is not a troll he has been on this site for years has posts in the thousands as opposed to you. He is just a MAN who like all real red blooded males loves the greatest sport ever invented by mankind namely FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!. The only problem he has is that he hates the Vikings which IS indeed a sin that cries to heaven.

Baskerville, you didn't tell me you were a viqueens/betty faver guy. That's too, too bad. How did those saints taste the second time around?  Lol.

As for dark lancer, if you don't like football that's fine. Those of us who do probably won't change our minds anytime soon. Time for this thread to get back on track.

After having gotten through three pages of complete garbage I'm happy to help get things back on track.

I'm happy for the Skins fans here. Not only did you beat Dallas (always a good thing to a Philly fan) but I'm happy you got McNabb. I can't believe we dumped him. Fortunately, even though we lost, our starting QB only played half the game. I can't believe we gave up McNabb for Kolb. I certainly don't wish anyone physical harm, but I won't be heartbroken if he can't play next week and Vick really beats up on Detroit. Hopefully that will force Andy Reid to reevaluate the QB situation.

Vick obviously ran all over the Packers but some of that was due to the fact that the Packers' coaching stuff had to suddenly deal with any entirely different offense and play book than they studied all week. That being said, Vick looked pretty good. And at this point, his Kolb's arm isn't even much better than Vick's. It's going to be a tough call going forward though. They've groomed Kolb to be the long term starter and he probably has more potential to lead the Eagles to playoff runs into the future. It's hard to dump him after only one game as THE starter. At the same time, the Eagles aren't super young and Vick might give them the best chance to win this year.

I didn't see the Browns game - it wasn't on locally, but they lost 17-14.  Considering how dismal they were last year, even that's improvement.  Last year, they couldn't even beat the Lions!

Though I am first and foremost a college football fan, it was nice seeing KC get a big win last night.  In the past 7 years, at least one team has gone from worst to first in their division, so hopefully this year will be the Chiefs' year.  Kansas City needs a winner for a change.

And it's too bad the Lions got robbed with that awful rule negating CJ's catch.  Not a huge Lions fan, but it'd be nice seeing them win a few this year.  (Plus they've got a few Huskers on their roster, so that's always a plus.)
