Take 5 months, and take 25 minutes each day to learn Latin, and you will soon be able to do very well with an all-Latin breviary.
Faster than Baronius!
it's what I've begun doing...

If someone were to buy the Divine Office from Baronius, FSSP, or another supplier, is it necessary to purchase a book on Martyrology to go with the Office of Prime? I know someone here on the Board mentioned one from Angelus. If you recite the Office in Latin from a Diurnale, what do you do if you do not have a book on the Martyrology? Is is necessary to recite the Martyrology to complete the Office of Prime? I know we can use Divinium Officium, but what if you do not have access to this type of resource at a particular time?

I don't think the Martyrology is obligatory outside of choir. Although, it is encouraged.

Thank you. I am switching to the Roman Breviary from the LOTH and am learning all I can beforehand. I don't think the Martyrology is obligatory outside of choir. Although, it is encouraged.

Excellent. Honestly, my recommendation is, if you have the Collegeville set (or one with English rubrics), dive in one day, and just look at one hour. I was at Adoration today, planning on praying the Little Hour (12pm), and wanted to do something else, so I read the rubrics and stuff for Matins. After about 15-20 minutes, I think I figured out how to pray it. Baptism by fire! lol (At least if you have the books) Also, if you have any questions, post them here. We've got a good set of knowledgeable people on hand!

I don't have the books yet, but am leaning toward getting an all Latin copy. Baronius is dragging their feet way too much and I don' think I'm willing to wait much longer. My LOTH is almost 19 years old now and I really want to learn the Roman Breviary anyway. The FSSP copy is $298 and I want to make sure I will dedicate myself to mastering the Latin, especially the psalms. I know some Latin now and have confidence in myself to understand most everything except the psalms and want to understand what the psalm is saying. I just do not want to rattle of some Latin words. I depended on Baronius for two years and have really been disappointed. It may be time to take the plunge and get an all Latin copy. Thank you. I am switching to the Roman Breviary from the LOTH and am learning all I can beforehand. I don't think the Martyrology is obligatory outside of choir. Although, it is encouraged.

FYI, back in the day Baptism of desire was called Baptism of fire. They meant a burning desire for Baptism. But that was when I was a kid in 1251, so go figure.
