i need to start up websitefor somebody who will use it for their portfolio and possible sell stuff at some point. i check out dreamhost because it highly recommended, but i cant use it because they make me pay $100+ up front and commit for year.

i need good webhost that let me pay just one month at time.

i used godaddy in past and dont like it.

looking forward to advice

can you pay month to mont and not have to comit more than that?

id like to know beforehand because these webhosts are sneaky. they make you do preliminary sign up before letting yu know you have to commit for year. waste of time

I use Freehostia.com.

http://www.freehostia.com/

It has several hosting options, including a free one (I use only the free ones), plenty of tools to manage the site (including domain registration) and is reliable even at the free level.

I have a site with a domain on that host (although I don't commonly reference it here) and two subdomains (free).

If the hosting options are agreeable, I think it would be a good choice to use.

I've tried a handful, but think that http://www.2mhost.com is the finest for the money.
