Forgive me for my ignorance, but I do not know what a 'Candylander' is. Someone enlighten me?
It is just a term that Scipio made up because he was tired of using the same old insults. Basically it means people that disagree with Scipio. Pedestrian response by a pedestrian mind. Candyland is a strain of tradism that is virulent. It really embodies holierthanthouness but with a real trad cath flavor that takes on majorly unCatholic ideas and actions and parades them around as if they are Catholic or in some cases, if the ideas are Catholic, they are paraded around as if they are the only Catholic response....and they are almost always the severe response....a very ugly crowd on almost every level. I guess that means when you fight with me it is a pedestrian crossing. ;D Ciarra, Here is the ridiculously long thread where he coined the expression. (Don't worry; it's in the first post.) http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/topic,3432097.0.html

I have NEVER had a priest react....even with my three year old running up the aisle during Mass to the rail and around in front of it before we could catch him...
If a priest reacts to these things with any more than a smile...to me....he's gonna pay the piper.
Children should at all times be considered a blessing, and their antics should be taken for what they are, nothing....and if a parishioner wants to take it up with me...woe to him...pretty simple.
Scipio, as a father of a lively 2-year old girl, I thank you for this, and heartily second every word of it. I too have had problems with baby-haters at my own diocesan TLM. Not from the Priests, mind you, but from certain candyland trads who insist on sitting in the back of the church with the young families, when there is plenty of room up front for them if they are truly so disturbed by others. We've been on the receiving end of many raised eyebrows, eyerolls, sneers, and under-the-breath comments ourselves. CC, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. While I have had my share of it, I've never encountered something THAT awful. You're all in my prayers, as is your priest. It sounds like he needs them more than anyone.

It's probably because they still can't figure out when to stand, sit, or kneel...LOL

It seems to me that one of the best ways to avoid this problem is to be a major donor at the parish. Put Father on the payroll.
Wouldn't that be nice for everyone?

YES...I'm not even kidding, it can be pretty obvious by the favoritism in my church, to the wealth families...

Ummm, aren't we supposed to expect more from priests? What if one of them broke his vow of chasity on a "bad day"?
Just adding a clarification here: an ordinary diocesan priest doesn't take a vow of chastity. All he does is make a promise not to contract marriage upon receiving the subdiaconate (or diaconate in the Novus Ordo). He doesn't have any vows regarding the use of his genitals, and isn't held to any higher standard on that than the average Christian. I don't think the traditional priestly societies impose any additional vows on that subject, either. If I'm not mistaken, it actually is more serious for priests to commit sexual sins than for average lay people. A personal sacrilege is committed by unworthy treatment of a person consecrated to God. Under this head are included:
[. . .]
Every sin of inchastity committed by or with persons consecrated to God by Holy Orders or Religious Profession
Even sins of thought are sacrilegious -- A double sacrilege is committed if two such persons sin together. -- The violation of a private vow of chastity constitutes a grave sin, but is not a sacrilege -- Only one sacrilege is committed if the person sinning is both a religious and a priest.

If a priest encouraged a visit with me like that, he would certainly obtain one. When you call another man out like that, you better remove that collar for what's next.
Indeed. I wish you guys formed a tag team called the Internet Warriors to fight this priest in the ring. Not only would he beat you, he would crush you into jam and spread you on crackers. The look on your faces as you crap your pants when you first see him would be worth the price of admission alone. Seriously, you would die.
