I think we need to make a trad glossary.  I looked at the blog from the perspective of someone who isn't Catholic or at least isn't a trad, and it's confusing.  What's a TLM?  What is NO?  There's a lot of lingo we throw around that can confuse people.

Let's make one that's basic, and I'll ask Vox to put it on the website or something.  We don't need complicated definitions or theological terms.  Just things that trads use in conversation where the meaning may not be apparent.  They don't need to be perfect; it's not a dictionary, just a reference so people know what the heck something means.   Submit contributions here; I will keep it pinned for a few days to gather stuff.

NO - Novus Ordo; see NOM

NOM - Novus Ordo Missae; litterally New Order of the Mass.  The Missal promulgated by Paul VI sometimes referred to as the Pauline Missal

V2 - The Second Vatican Council

TLM - Traditional Latin Mass; sometimes referred to as the Tridentine Mass

OF - The "Ordinary Form" of Mass for the Latin Rite; see NOM
EF - The "Extraordinary Form" of Mass for the Latin Rite; see TLM

S.T. - Summa Theologica; a philosophical / theological work by St. Thomas of Aquinas

CE - Catholic Encyclopedia of 1917

Illicit - Not Permitted
Licit - Permitted

Valid - Effects what it promises. E.g., a valid Consecration is one where the bread and wine become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divnity of Christ
Invalid - Does not effect what it promises.  E.g., an invalid Consecration is one where the bread and wine remain bread and wine, usually due to a defect in matter or form.

DK - Devoted Knuckles; forum member who posts incomprehensible posts that are usually worth decoding and generally end with "sip sip" except during Lent   ;D

Eh, joke aside, we need a glossary.  And if you are new and don't know what a term means or just learned it, post it.  Someone else can provide or nuance the meaning.  It's valuable to hear from newbies what confused them or what they don't know.

LOL, someone might think I was talking about throwing trash.  I was typing too fast.  I'll fix it in the real deal.

"It preaches that not only in civil affairs, which is not Our concern here, but also in religion, God has given every individual a wide freedom to embrace and adopt without danger to his salvation whatever sect or opinion appeals to him on the basis of his private judgment.  The apostle Paul warns us against the impiety of these madmen" (Pope Leo XII, Ubi Primum, n. 12).

"Likewise, peace is rooted in respect for religious freedom, which is a fundamental and primordial aspect of the freedom of conscience of individuals and of the freedom of peoples.  It is important that everywhere in the world every person can belong to the religion of his choice and practise it freely without fear" (Pope Benedict XVI, Address to Five New Ambassadors, 18 May 2006).
