Hello! I'm currently converting to the RC Church after having being a very lapsed Church of England member. Currently doing the RCIA course (fairly boring) but luckily know some wonderfully traditional catholics who are making sure those 1970s, liberal ideas don't infect me. A priest friend said I should look at this website here I am. Any questions about why I chose to convert (my journey, if I wish to be cheesy), about me (within reason), and about the people helping me convert are all welcome.

God is good, all the time. I am blessed to be a member in the body of the Church.

A compelling argument for traditionalism: "trad chapels... where men can wear lace in a righteous manner!" - Bakuryokuso

Welcome to the fishtank!  Glad you decided to join us!

Any questions you might have about the 'tank can be asked of those with the little red wagon under their screen name, and might I direct you to the Harbor, our newbie forum?  http://catholicforum.fisheaters.com/index.php/board,62.0.html

Welcome!

Advice?  Sure!

Make sure you make use of the main website http://www.fisheaters.com

Two books to read while you convert (if you aren't reading already): Baltimore Catechism #3, then The Roman Catechism (not the CCC - the old one from the Council of Trent)

Two of my favorite spiritual books:  The Imitation of Christ, The Spiritual Combat

All of those books are available online for free.

Other than that, enjoy yourself and don't take any wooden nickels.  Smile

Those are certainly some books I'll look at. Already have an audio version of the Imitation of Christ read by Fr. Hugh Thwaites, SJ. Wonderful priest, have you heard of him?

I have heard the name, but I am not familiar with him at all.

An audio version?  Oh, cool!  I would like that so I can listen in the car.  Did you get it somewhere online?  If so, do you have a link?

A link? Sure do!

Just scroll down until you found it. It's got a load of other stuff he did such as him reading the Penny Catechism (this is one of the things that helped me decide to convert), his War Memoirs (something quite special) and a tonne of other stuff. I'm sure after listening to him for a bit you'll agree that the Lord blessed him with a voice designed for reading!
