We're always complaining about the lack of modesty, femininity, and decorum in women's clothing today. Now it's the men's turn to be scrutinized.

In my world, men would wear swimshirts. If you think it's a problem seeing a nice-looking woman in a skimpy bathing suit, consider the different yet equally great problem of being surrounded by flabby, hairy white bellies. Have men no pride?

Your turn, girls.

Where can you even buy a swimshirt? Itd be like a one piece guys use to jetski or surf? Or I suppose like Olympic swimgear?

In the topic title, "Mens" is a double plural... Or is it a veiled complement? (maybe you were thinking of the Latin word for the mind...) Smile

Not at all. It's a colloquialism.

You can buy a swimshirt at places that have sporty-type swimwear. They're actually quite nice because they will protect you from sunburn and dangerous UV rays while not being annoying like a wet t-shirt. Are you going to buy one??

I think it's an excellent idea and I'll check it out. My son and I swim a lot in the summer.

Never heard "mens" as a colloquialism before...

Really? Like, "That Mae West loved the mens!"

Here's an Amazon link for a variety of swim shirts, also sometimes known as rash guards: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dapparel&field-keywords=swim+shirt

I have seen them at Target, too.

I must say, I've been impressed by the majority of Men's standards of decency these days.  I rarely ever see a man inappropriately dressed at church.  Sloppy teenagers are another story.  But amongst traditional Parishes I've been to I have never seen an indecently dressed male, plenty of females though!

Even secular men have better standards of dress than women.   Their formal/business wear is extremely modest compared to the short skirt sleevless dresses offered for women in most catalogs.  I am extremely annoyed at the differences in what is acceptable for men vs. what is pushed on women to swim in.

Because of what I have written above, complaints about the lack of discussion about male modesty compared to the amount focused on that for females annoy me..

I almost always swim with a T-shirt on if the place allows it; some places won't.

That said, I usually avoid the problem because I avoid going to open swimming areas.  That's usually the best solution.
