No, really. This is by far the coolest Sims game ever made. This series has taken a step in the direction of RPG's. In this game, which is based on the Sims 3 engine, you create a monarch and go about ruling a fantasy medieval kingdom and taking on quests to shape the kingdom how you desire: whether it's a military empire, a mercantile paradise, or whatever. You can even shape the story in a direction you want, from romantic to comedic or dramatic.

I'm normally the sort to be a little embarrassed to admit playing games like The Sims, but I highly recommend this one; especially for casual gamers with relatively low-end PC's.

I tried to make this character look as much like myself as I could:

This one is based on my fiancee:

Praying for the dead is important. PM me if you need a cantor for the Requiem Mass of a deceased friend or family member. Have cassock and surplice, will travel. (Will also do weddings for a reasonable price.)

Is there much religious content? There's only this one scene in the video. Looks like some guy stole the papal tiara and fancies himself a preacher. But then there's tons of magic.

You can recruit either Peteran or Jacoban priests for hero characters. Peterans are ascetic types, Jacobans are more decadent. Both factions are obviously fictitious and very generic.

I want it!!

I really love the Sims games, but the characters and backgrounds have gotten boring.  This looks really cool.  Is it tedious to build castles and all that stuff?  That's one of my complaints about the Sims, all the time it takes to decorate and put lights and windows in etc. etc. etc.

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.– Buddha

Note: According to this precept, I find that Buddhism is NOT true.  I have tested and judged many things, and the only Truth I have found is in God's One True Church: The Catholic Church.

I don't think you can build new buildings from scratch. If so, I haven't gotten that far. I've only been able to furnish the castle I start out with. The furnishing  mode doesn't seem different than in The Sims 3.

They need to make more religious simulation-type games.

I remember some game from back in the day where you got to play God.  It was called Black and White, I think.  Pretty cool.  Civilization was kind of fun like that too.  But I'd play for a little bit and then find some cheat codes.  Then I'd nuke every country but Ireland.  After that I'd get pretty bored.

Papal Tycoon? Unfortunately, trad Catholic video gamers are a very, very niche market.
