Question:

I've heard it's more RPG like than the sims 3.  I love the Sims 3, and basically use it like paper dolls whose lives I can mess with.  Is RPG element needed, or can you focus on other aspects?

At the very least, it's quest-driven. You need to accept a quest from the main menu before you even enter into Live Mode. The other Sims games are way more freeform in comparison.

Then again, I'm a little sick of having to tell my sims to change their babies' diapers and make dinner.  And sitting here, watching them clean.  So I use the motherlode cheat to get money to hire servants.  Gosh, how I wish that worked in real life.  :p

Here, you only need to worry about food and sleep, and Sims seem to be able to do these automatically. I have a servant to cook for my monarch. I noticed there's breastfeeding in the game. Don't know if that was a feature in previous games, but I thought that would arouse some trad interest.

Sounds kind of fun.

Are the quests fun or are they this sort of quest:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TwentyBearAsses

The later kind of quest is part of why I quit WOW.  That and long periods of riding on a horse or waiting for a bloody bird to take me where I needed to go.  And guild drama.  And grinding.  And...

Well mostly because I'm a casual gamer.  And because there are only 24 hours in a day and too many of them were gone to WOW.

I haven't run into inane fetch quests yet, but I haven't played  the game extensively enough to say they aren't there. There are some games I'll play until the crack of dawn or beyond, but this isn't one of them. I like it a lot, but I I couldn't play it obsessively.

As for World of Warcraft.... LOL. Well, don't judge all RPGs by that one. I'm mainly a hardcore RPG player, but WoW is, frankly, an awful game in my opinion. It's only good if you really must play with other people online. I stick with single player games, but I have friends come over to watch since many of these games are like watching epic movies.

I don't mind a fetch quest or two.  I mind a fetch quest every two seconds.   ;D   LOL

They need to make more religious simulation-type games.

I remember some game from back in the day where you got to play God.  It was called Black and White, I think.  Pretty cool.  Civilization was kind of fun like that too.  But I'd play for a little bit and then find some cheat codes.  Then I'd nuke every country but Ireland.  After that I'd get pretty bored.

It looks like Paradox's Crusader Kings 2 will have a heavy religious simulation portion to it.

I was gonna say, actually, that war games set in the Middle Ages or Renaissance are generally the closest you'll get to "religious simulation". Medieval II: Total War and Europa Universalis III both involve meddling with the College of Cardinals, for example.

Yes, although in EUIII my Cardinals never seem to live long.  Hilariously, one game I played the Papal States became Protestant.

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.– Buddha

Note: According to this precept, I find that Buddhism is NOT true.  I have tested and judged many things, and the only Truth I have found is in God's One True Church: The Catholic Church.

I can believe it. PC games are currently a very small share of the game industry in general. I'm actually more surprised your Best Buy had a PC game section at all. Many Best Buys's, Wal-Mart's, and even Gamestop's around here just forget about PC, or have extremely limited selections. Your best bet would be ordering online.
