"Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer are the two great saints of the modern Church. Once this catastrophe ends they will be instantly canonized." - Father Malachi Martin

Thank you all for your responses friends. I assure you all, that no matter what tone my original post may have displayed, I have the utmost respect and admiration for the Society of St. Pius X. As I said, I have never had any face to face dealings with the SSPX, and much of what I have heard is from 'Catholics(global)' group discussion forum on Facebook; which by the way, is full of many heretical discussions. I hope, by the grace of God, to understand further about the SSPX and to discern what part it will play in my life. You see, I am looking for orthodoxy, the true way, the Tradition that has been pure since the beginning. I love the Eastern Divine Liturgy, and the Byzantine Rite Churches, but I look to the Novus Ordo western rite Church, and am greatly disturbed by what I see there. In the Roman Novus Ordo Church, there seems to be much lies, heresy and utter blasphemy being emitted from what seems to be the majority of priests, seminary's and even some Bishops. Corrupted by the ambiguous, erroneous Vatican II pastoral council, the western church appears to have fallen far from its former glorious orthodoxy. I understand that this modernistic/americanist flavour is all coincident with the godless apathy of western society, but the fall still brings a tear of frustration and sorrow to my eye. I hope that, in the light of the SSPX, the western rite, will once again ascend to its splendid anointment. God bless. Pax Vobiscum

1) The SSPX is a Catholic Fraternity of priests and bishops. They do not claim to be a separate church or even the Church. They are a faithful renmant of Catholics subject to the Pope and unlike Protestants, the Orthodox and the modernists posing as Catholics, the SSPX does not teach heresy;
2) Yes;
3) No;
4) In principle, the SSPX condemns these groups because of their unmistakable compromises with the conciliar church. In practical terms, though, there is often some cooperation;
5) The current Superior General is Bishop Fellay. Previously it was Fr. Schmidtberger. The founder was Archbishop Lefebvre.
6) A fallible pastoral council that wrought much damage in the Church.

I urge to investigate matters further. Take your time, there's lots of material to be read and many of your assumptions will be challenged. Pray to God that He may give you the grace to accept the truth.

Go here. Start with the simpler articles and move on from there.

Assuredly, when I have more time, I will search the text of the SSPX website. Thank you

Ditto on reading their site. Also, feel free to request an Introduction to Tradition Kit while you're there. It sums up everything they have to say for themselves.  My only dealing with the Society other than the kit has been calling to find out if any of them came to my city. Unfortunately, the nearest SSPX Mass is over three hours driving distance. That's simply impossible to travel without a vehicle. But I digress.

There's no such thing as "same sex marriage." Marriage is between one man and one woman. Period.

We are what you once were.
We believe what you once believed.
We worship as you once worshipped.
If you were right then, we are right now.
If we are wrong now, you were wrong then.

There is nothing more necessary to the survival of the Church than the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass; to hide it from sight is to shake the foundations of the Church. The whole Christian, religious, priestly life rests on the Cross, on the Holy Sacrifice of the Cross renewed on the altar. --- Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre

I beg you to pray for priests, most especially those on the road to Hell. They do not enter there alone, but with thousands of others that have followed them.

Certainly, their masses are licit precisely because we are in a state of grave necessity.

This is beyond dispute.

I dispute it.

I honestly cannot see how.

The grave crisis in the Church is now even admitted by conservatives and liberals alike.

is that an official opinion of the SSPX? Or a commonly held belief?

What are Catholics to think of Vatican II?

Two interpretations of Vatican II: myth or reality?

Hawaii Five-O, I am very familiar with your case, and I want to say that you and your fellow SSPXers are my heroes.  Thank you for standing up for the Catholic Faith.  You have my appreciation and my prayers. Pray

I was a minor player in the whole affair.  My mother, God rest her soul, was the real force behind the events that transpired.  It all came to a head when she publicly exposed Bishop Ferrario and a number of priest as pederasts and organised a group which stopped the sale of St. Augustine Church, a Waikiki landmark, to Japanese investors who wanted to build a hotel. This deprived Ferarrio and his gang of much money which they were planning to finance their cushy gig with.  Bishop Ferrario thought an excommunication would shut her up!  Boy was he ever wrong...  LOL  My mom went after him like a pitbull.  The Bishop just included me in the excommunication, out of spite, to get one in on my mom.  I thought she was crazy to fight it all the way to the Rota in Rome, but she was right and God saw fit to use her as an instrument to bring about a victory for those fighting for the traditional Faith.  Deo gratias!

All the details are in Randy Engel's book  "The Rite of Sodomy — Homosexuality and the Roman Catholic Church".  Bishop Ferarrio escaped any real punishment, he died in retirement.  Fr. Joseph Bukowski, the Vicar General of Honolulu, was eventually sent to prison for molesting a seminarian.  Many, many more pederast priests in Hawaii escaped with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

SLCFranciscan, I appreciate your prayers!   Please pray for the soul of my mom, Patricia Morley, who passed away in 1996.  Also, please pray for the souls of Herb Carlos and Louise Santos who both passed last year, they were also included in Bishop Ferarrio's excommunication vendetta.

I will be happy to pray for them! Pray

I know that I, who am not SSPX, diligently hold that opinion.
