Just curious, for those who put in an order at Baronius.

I never received an order number when I used the link. I had to email them to get a confirm number to write on my check.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I think they said to expect delivery in 6 to 8 weeks. So I'm thinking it should arrive by the end of April.

I am fortunate to have a Latin and English set, so I am in no rush. But, I certainly understand the excitement and anxiety about the entire process.

I did get an order # .. but never heard about 6-8 weeks.  Good to know.

I had to call to get my order number, which I wrote on my check. You can call them to verify that they received your payment. I called again yesterday for status and was told that they expected the books to arrive in their warehouse by or around Easter and that they would immediately be shipped to customers at that time. The books were printed in the Philippines and are being shipped by boat to their warehouse in the US, so that is the reason for the apparent delay (I really don't think it's a delay, as it seems to have been a part of their original plan). As I understand it, a few preview copies were rushed from the Philippines to reviewers, so that's why we've seen them on various blogs already. The rest of us are waiting for the boat to arrive... Only two weeks until Easter now, so just hold on a little longer. These breviaries look really good... they will be worth the wait.

Got this email from Baronius a little over 13 hours ago:

Quote from: Baronius Press
Dear Mr. XXXXXX XXXXXXXX,

Some customers have changed their mind and decided not to order the Breviary at this time. As you registered on the Breviary pre-order alert form, we would like to offer you the opportunity to pre-order the Breviary.

The Breviaries are currently on a ship. According to the latest update from the shipping company, the Breviaries should be in our warehouse in the 2nd week of April. As soon as they arrive, they will be sent out.

Please follow the link below to go to the pre-ordering page for the Breviary.

[link]

After completing your pre-order, you will see your order number and confirmation of the pre-order will be displayed.

For the pre-order, we will be accepting payments by check only. Please print out the submitted Pre-Order Form and enclose it with your check, or alternatively please ensure to write the order number on the check so that we can match the payment to your order.

Please send your check made payable to “Baronius Press” to the following address:

Baronius Press
1054 Grandview Road
Oil City
PA 16301

The pre-order offer is valid for the next 5 days - until midnight Tuesday 27th March (payment can be received after this date). If you decide that you would prefer to not order now, we would be very grateful to hear from you. This is so we can offer your copy to someone else who has not yet been able to order.

If you have any problems with the order process, please contact us and we will assist you with the order.

Kind regards,

Baronius Press

Since I have the opportunity to order, and I've followed this project for so long, I figure worst case scenario is... having it around for reference?  I'll probably pony up the $$$ and confirm with them before Tuesday.

I received the same e-mail yesterday giving me the chance to order the breviaries - have done so and I am very excited about them!!

However I still have my original 1963 Collegeville breviaries which I would be willing to sell to any interested Fishies out there - here is a picture of them:

They are in darn good condition and I only want to shift them to make room (and funds!) for the new Baronius breviaries.

Please let me know if you want to discuss prices etc.

I am in the interesting position of having ended up with two Baronius Press breviaries.

Although I am sure they are wonderful books, I really only need one, so I have one available (at cost + shipping of course) for anyone who is still feeling left out.

In the email from Baronius, they said that they would be receiving them this week. Assuming the Breviaries will actually arrive on time, and assuming the orders will ship in the order in which they were received, it could be another week or two before we see them in the mail.

I too got in on the enough-people-backed-out-that-you-can-get-one-from-the-first-printing thing.  They've cashed my check so now it's the waiting game...
