Mainly, I use Divinum Officium.  I pull up the website and my breviary from FSSP and pray it that way, referring to Divinum Officium as often as I need.  The more I pray it, the better my understanding and pronunciation gets.  From time to time, I use a book from Tan by, I believe Scanton.

That is what I am doing now.  I would have liked to buy the Baronius version, but way too much time passed.

Many people have learned Latin and started praying the Latin-only versions because BP has taken so long.

I will play the prophet and say that January 1st will come and we still won't have these in hand.

What book(s) are you using to learn Latin, and what publisher's breviary are you using?

On Facebook, a user in my Waiting For... the Baronius Press Breviary group posted the following nearly half an hour ago:

I sent an email on Monday of this week asking for an update. I received a reply back that there would be an announcement within the next couple of days. I am waiting with bated breath.

Of course, I'll believe it when I see it on Baronius's site... but thought I'd report it here.

Here's a photo of the first batch coming off the press vis a vis their distribution system. I think I am going to wait awhile to try and make sure the books are not too moist.

Of course, there will be an announcement that there will be an opportunity to pre-register to receive a pre-order notification which will get you on a waiting list that will allow you the option to be emailed when the publisher will have the breviaries ready for printing.  At which point, you will be able to pre-order the breviary which will then only be shipped once the breviaries actually arrive at Baronius Press, which may be delayed if the weather is bad, and then you have to worry about El Nino disrupting the leather binding, thereby causing shipments to be delayed.

But there WILL be an announcement of some sort.

Some sort.

Adam, you crack me up.

What book(s) are you using to learn Latin, and what publisher's breviary are you using?

At this rate it takes us less time to learn enough latin to understand the Breviary in a latin-only form.

Not that I am blaming Baronius or anything, as this is a huge and remarkable project. But am just stating some facts   ;D

I used Scanlon's Latin for the Missal and Breviary from TAN books and a 1962 Roman Breviary (diurnale) from Angelus Press which my parish priest gave to me. Most valuable thing that someone has ever done for me. Most awesome version of the breviary in  my opinion, if you want a latin-only translation.

I can't recognise various words here and there in the Office still, especially for the hymns, and Scanlon's latin won't be enough for you if you want to understand the lessons for Matins (which I am not saying). But those are quite complicated anyway.

Last week came and went without any announcement, I'll be shocked if we get one this week.

So... shame on Baronius for yet another glimmer of false hope!
