I'm just going to wait.  I feel like the Liturgy of the Hours was my childhood and now the Divine Office will be my adulthood. besides Baronius products are so beautiful!  they look like heirlooms but don't fall apart (at least mine don't)

while I await Baronius I shall learn how to chant and Latin

I've gotten Sunday Vespers down so far.

The psalms and antiphons are all the same except paschaltide's antiphons right?

A.D. 2011:  Another year without so much as the option to Pre-Order the Baronius Breviary.

Last update was November 14, 2011:
Quote
After yet another unexpected delay due to a broken down printing press, the production is now under way with the aim to finish the Breviaries before Christmas. We hope that this was the last delay and we will keep you informed of the production progress.

Thanks for keeping us informed, Baronius!

This Breviary I'm certain is a lot more simple then DA. However, it is still a complicated book to put together.

It really does not matter what the problem is, but I suspect it has more to do with putting the books together then typhoons and everything else that has been mentioned as reasons for it's seemingly everlasting delay.

The first time someone picks up a Breviary, it actually looks like nonsense. At least that was my initial reaction. Then as you start to learn, one realizes that it is nothing short of Divine "Liturical Engineering" for lack of a better word. Obviously with Divine guidance through the Holy Ghost.

I think they may be having problems communicating this to the printers and binders, and my gut tells me they are having a hard time putting it together.

At least that is what my intuition tells me. It can't make it easier that they are having it printed overseas where language barriers may be an issue. This isn't a Benziger Brothers or Desclee operation.

Having said that, I think I would wait for a second printing before purchasing. Although I have no interest in these books as I have an English and Latin set by Benziger with the same Psalter.

I'm glad I did not wait.

I have no inside information of the situation. I know only what has been announced on the website. But I do have a fair acquaintence with some of the Baronius people involved in the process and believe them to be completely honorable and trustworthy. Although the statuses have been far too infrequent, I am convinced they are being honest and above board. In short, I take them at their word and suggest we all do likewise.

I'm sure they are honorable. Just stating an opinion. What's the difference for the delay? Just making an observation on the complexity of the Breviary. You would think I said something wrong.  Eye-roll

I received word via email from Baronius last week that they will be providing us with an update this week. They previously commented that they would try to provide more frequent updates, it's been nearly two months! That is ridiculous!

Quote from: Baronius on December 31 in an email to an interested party
[ . . . ] at present the first 2 volumes are completely printed and the third volume will hopefully be completed by the end of the first week. We will post another update towards the end of next week, with hopefully good news that it is finally printed.

I think this past week was the "next week" to which Baronius referred, so . . .  Huh?

I know this project has been beset with many difficulties but still, why do those difficulties make it so difficult for Baronius to provide us with timely updates. This is ridiculous. I hope they are reading these boards. I know it will come out eventually and therefore patience must prevail, but please please just give us an update as to the progress.

Will their breviary contain the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin as well?
