FYI... 72 inches of very fine tulle is the perfect length for a shrug-type shoulder covering to make the dresses appropriate for church... no sewing involved, just some careful straight cutting

Also, in case anyone was curious, here is the actual bridesmaid's dress.  I am going to get a shrug or something for them to wear at Mass.

I think it's very pretty!

Yes, I like that! I hope you take loots of pictures and post them here at the forum after the big day!

Thanks for all the ideas.  My sister-in-law/bridesmaid is really good at sewing/crafts, so she is going to try to make some birdcage veils for the three of them.  She is also making something for the flower girls, as well, so hopefully that will take care of those issues.  A couple more things to cross of my list!

I love your profile pic btw. You guys look like fun to hang out with!

I have a collection of fascinators that I wear for special occasions that include Mass.  They are all the headband-style and instead of the feathers being on the side only, they sweep over the top of my head.  Some have tulle and netting.  I usually get a ton of compliments on them by people that think I'm just trying to be fashionable.  They're a dime a dozen on Etsy (not literally, but they have a ton there.)  They're also simple enough to make if you're the crafty type.

Paloma--pardon my ignorance, but what is a "fascinator"?

Let me google that for you:

Ha, sorry.  I'm kidding!  I'm not trying to be a brat.  I tried to google a good picture for you but they're all so different, it would be easier just to look it up.

It's feathers, fabric, or flowers attached to a pad that is then attached to either a head band or a clip or comb and worn in the hair.  They can either be a hair adornment/accessory or a full on head covering/mini-hat.  Kate Middleton is often seen wearing one for churchy stuff.

My sister-in-law is the crafty type, and she is going to make the headcoverings for her and my sisters.  She didn't know what a birdcage veil was, so I showed her some pictures.  We talked a little, and I'm guessing that what she makes will look like a cross between a birdcage veil and a fascinator.  I think they're going to be cute, and I don't have to make them, so I'm happy.  Maybe I'll take a look on Etsy and show her some pics of fascinators, too, so she'll have more options.  Thanks for the idea!
