Ketchup I think you're missing his point about the SSPX.

Woops please excuse the iPhone auto correct!

I've had my foot washed two years straight. Last year NO mixed genders. Done on purpose to represent "the whole church". This year TLM twelve men done on purpose to represent the twelve apostles
Sadly, having the priests wash the feet of both men and women would have been an improvement at my old NO parish.  As it was, not only did the priests wash the feet of both sexes but they were joined by Sister X., the parish's  "pastoral associate".  A think she may have given a "pastoral reflection" at the homily, but I've tried to block it out, so I don't really remember.

I can only remain in stunned silence reading that. Sometimes I think making this entire FE Forum mandatory reading for all the USCCB would make sense until I realized it wouldn't make a difference; sad.

It probably wouldn't make a big difference.  Not now anyway.  Maybe in 15 or so years... Right now these sorts of abuses are pretty par for the course in many places and the priests who allow and commit  them are often of similar mind with the bishops.

And this is why I go to the FSSP. No more BS to put up with.

I  experienced a similar event for Holy Thursday here in the NO parish. I had learned my lesson about the USCCB earlier in another lost argument, so checked their web site. The old canard "pastoral reasons" was listed once again. Anything can be modified for pastoral reasons, evidently known only to the pastor. Our pastor frequently quotes Karl Rahner and now Richard McBrien to tell us this is all about service. Service to me is another word for the always-present love affair with social justice. The modern church somehow lost the words charity and humility in its vocabulary. It's always about service, social justice,  and now too frequently "stewardship". I am driven more and more to the SSPX and am ready to cut all ties with my neighborhood parish. Some Happy Easter!?

Don't forget "DIALOGUE
". I had gotten to the point that by 2,007 if one more person said "Let's DIALOGUE  about that", I might have hauled off & smacked 'em. Fish-Eater Smackdown
We usually "dialogued" in the "gathering space". Amchurch has a whole new vocabulary. The priest is now the "presider" & the Sanctuary has become the "Worship Space". As far as stewarship & social justice, do they really think that this subject needs to be preached about incessantly, when 50 MILLION babies have been killed in the wombsince 1973, when 75% of those people who are entered on their Church rosters don't attend Mass regularly, when young Catholics seem to see nothing wrong with living together outside of marriage & homosexuals are clamoring for the same "rights" that heterosexual married people have?

Any priest that quotes Rahner or Richard-is-the-camera-rolling-McBrien is hopelessly behind the times. The white-haired hippies of the long ago 60's are on their way OUT & the young people are looking for conservative values & are honestly seeking substance!!
