A TruXedo brand Lo Pro model tonneau cover for the bed of my Dodge Ram 1500 pickup (crew cab short box).

 http://www.truxedo.com/lopro/land.php

I've been wanting one since I got the truck last December but needed to budget the accessories, and also decide which to get ~ there are a multitude of manufacturers, models, options, and suppliers.  After narrowing the choice down to two I texted the best on-line prices I found to my local guy (the dealership where I bought the truck).  I shop a lot online or at "big boxes" like Costco, REI, and Staples but I always try and check with local retailers also.  When I was in sales (I sold frozen semen and related supplies for artificial insemination of cattle ~ I also provied AI service and set up synchronized breeding programs for cattle ranches) the most frustrating thing wasn't loosing out on a particular sale, one doesn't expect to get all the business  Grin, but not getting the chance to at least make a bid.

I expected the local guy to be higher than the best on line price I found, and knew he wouldn't begrudge me going for a better price elsewhere, appreciative of the courtesy of my at least giving him the opportunity to give me a price.  To my surprise on the unit I was leaning toward they matched the on line price (cost plus shipping), so I kept my biz local.  Even better, I expected to wait at least a few days for it to arrive (would have been about a week if I ordered on line).  I stopped by to order yesterday (Friday) after work, they got it in today (Saturday).  I stopped by after work today to pick it up and they offered to install it at the quoted price, or give me a discount if I wanted to install it myself (I had them install because if there were any problems with the fit they would fix it).  Obviously if I had ordered on line I would have had to do the install.

By buying local I did pay $36 in sales tax that I might have avoided on line (increasingly on line retailers are collecting sales tax for the state they are shipping to), but believe in doing my part to have good local infrastructure (roads, snow removal, parks, transit, fire and ambulance service, etc.).

A   Pray that all goes well!  When it comes to things mechanical I quickly get beyond my pay grade, but I've put new dishwasher and washing machine pumps in (without too many parts left over, and the things actually worked when I got done), so hopefully this will go well.

I was at my university's (Washington State) Surplus Sales which is open to the public on Friday's last week and brought home a thirty volume 1980 ediiton of the Encyclopaedia Britannica for 10 cents a book ($3.26 total with sales tax)

They were being surplused by the library but appear to be in excellent condition.

A coffee-maker carafe and a food processor bowl. We replace all the small appliance parts at the same time.

eBay bucks certificate needed to be used (had a significant amount of free money). Looked for a good missal for cheap. I found a Latin/French TLM Missal. Looking forward to getting it. Paid $5 for it after applying the eBay bucks certificate. Now, I am done with eBay for a while.
