From: "Given the potential consequences for public health of this classification and findings," said IARC director Christopher Wild, "it is important that additional research be conducted into the long-term, heavy use of mobile phones. Pending the availability of such information, it is important to take pragmatic measures to reduce exposure such as hands-free devices or texting."

Also interesting:
"The cellphone review was controversial for several reasons. It started with people who already had cancer and asked them to recall how often they used their cellphones more than a decade ago with older cellphone devices. The "possibly carcinogenic" category is used when there is inadequate evidence of cancer-causing effects in humans but there is sufficient evidence in animals."
So that means cellphones are being added to the same list as: - coffee - engine exhaust - pickled vegetables - talc based body powders
Scary stuff.

I can recall the 'Cel phones causes cancer' controversy back in the 90s. When hands-free devices hit the market, a few of my California friends initially purchased one to protect their brains.

They didnt realize, sadly, that cause they were already Californians it was too late for their brains anyways Yeah, about the cellphones, eh I saw the same fearmongering crap on the news tonight, the headline was like "cellphones and CANCER!!!1111" or whathaveyou. I say, meh. Honestly, so what. Cigarettes, car exhaust, radiation in the fruits/veggies/water, getting hit by a bus, or choking on tomorrows dinner are all equally likely to take me out. Maybe standing in front of my microwave too long will do it too. Hell, eventually if cancer from all that stuff doesnt take me out, old age will anyway so if my cellphone speeds it up some, it can go right ahead. I refuse to turn into a tinfoil hatter who never steps out their front door.
