I read somewhere a quote that I need clarified, what it exactly said and who said it.

It has something to do with "God loves more one soul who is trying to be a saint than a 1000 souls who are in a state of grace but are tepid"

Sounds like you are referencing some scriptural quotes:

Quote from: Luke 15:7
I say to you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven upon one sinner that doth penance, more than upon ninety-nine just who need not penance.

About the tepidity:
Quote from: Apocalypse 3:16
But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, not hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth.

It is the Mass that matters.

But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, not hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth. -Apocalypse  3:16
