I am in a position to do more learning regarding the Faith and the Church's vast stacks of wisdom.

Keeping in mind that I am in the midst of learning Latin, I am looking for reliable English translations of the great writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine of Hippo, the Church Fathers, etc.  Of course bilingual editions would be optimal, I am most interested in English versions for now.

Many thanks for assistance in this!

A great site is the Christian Classic Ethereal Library.  The information at CCEL is mostly free and is a huge resource for any of the Church's writings.

For the Early Fathers:

Here's the works of Thomas Aquinas:

Many of the Church's vast stacks of wisdom can be read or downloaded free from Google books.  Google books also has links to where you can purchase the actual books too.

Good reading my friend!

Thanks, NE!

I'm looking to purchase because nothing quite matches a well stocked study.  Also, HK has put me to shame in terms of home altars.  With the gauntlet thrown, I accept the challenge.

You may want to invest in a side by side English and Latin translation of the Summa like this one, http://www.amazon.com/Summa-Theologiae-Thomas-Aquinas-Latin-English/dp/1440484988

That way you can brush up on your Latin while studying theology.  Smile

Also, a bit of background in scholastic philosophy is essential if you really want to delve into the Summa. A couple of books you might want to look into: Aquinas: A Beginner's Guide, by Edward Feser; Nature, Knowledge And God: An Introduction To Thomistic Philosophy, by Brother Benignus; Elementary Course of Christian Philosophy, by Brother Louis of Poissy (the whole thing's online here: http://www2.nd.edu/Departments/Maritain/etext/cp.htm); An Introduction to Philosophy for Young People, by Doug McManaman (which is also online right here: http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/mcm/ph/ph_01philosophyyouth1.html); An Introduction to Philosophy, by Monsignor Glenn, and  A Tour of the Summa by the same author.

And just out of curiosity, what method/materials are you using to study Latin? I've been thinking about taking some online courses, myself.

Hope this helps!

A good site collecting many of St. Thomas's works translated into English is:

http://dhspriory.org/thomas/

The best bibliography of such translations that I know of is:

http://www.home.duq.edu/~bonin/thomasbibliography.html

Finally the Latin can be found here:

I have the Catena Aurea from Baronius Press (http://www.baroniuspress.com/book.php?wid=56&bid=53) and use it extensively.
It's a bit pricey at $140 but I can recommend it as an excellent publication.
