I guess Satan didn't like the prayers and what they were doing for your spiritual life.

Glad you could retrieve some of the book, hope you can find comfort in what's left and eventually get a new book or figure out something else.

I thank God that I live in a day when the enemy is outside the Church, and I know where he is and what he is up to. But, I foresee a day when the enemy will be both outside and inside the Church . . . and I pray now for the poor faithful who will be caught in the crossfire.

Hey guys I wanted to say that after I threw it away this morning, I went through the trash and retrieved some of the pages that were still comprehensible.

I really appreciate all your prayers, and I was able to save more prayers than I thought.

I'm still sad about it, but I do feel better.

Thanks again.
I was googling and found a few of them listed for various prices on ebay. They are either hardback black leather or paperback and say "Cardinal Spellman's prayerbook."
Here is the paperback with o bids starting at 29.99 mint condition 1951 version

I also found this one. It is the hardbound edition from 1951 with some binding tears, but you can buy it for 29.99. No bidding for this one.

There are more that cost quite a bit because they are the original hardbacks in mint condition.

Search for "prayers" at the main FE site and you'll get a ton of them, in Latin and English, for printing your own prayer book, as a supplement to whatever the dog left in one piece.

You know now that your pet is hungry for the Word of God.  Pretty amazing!

"Courage, dear brothers! Probably half of us are in our old age. Old age, they say, is the seat of wisdom. The old ones have the wisdom that they have earned from walking through life. Like old Simeon and Anna at the temple whose wisdom allowed them to recognize Jesus. Let us give with wisdom to the youth: like good wine that improves with age, let us give the youth the wisdom of our lives."

"Let us never give in to pessimism, to that bitterness that the devil offers us every day. Do not give in to pessimism and discouragement. We have the firm certainty that the Holy Spirit gives the Church with His mighty breath, the courage to persevere and also to seek new methods of evangelization, to bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth."

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable,
most incomprehensible and ineffable Name of God
be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored
and glorified in Heaven, on earth,

by all the creatures of God,
and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Amen.
