I had seen it a long time ago but didn't remember much about it. I'm surprised it won best screenplay; there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about the writing.

Christina Hendricks' head exploding not to your taste?

Well, sure, heads exploding in general is right up my alley.  But the head explosions need to have context.  They need to be for something.  Or nothing.  That's fine too.  If it's just some cheesy action fluff, that's cool.  But Drive was not that.  It was trying to be gritty and serious.  But it made no point.  No one developed.  Just...some stuff happened.  And nothing made any sense.  I suppose it succeeded at being atmospheric, but it was an empty atmosphere.  I didn't hate it, but there wasn't enough there for me to like it.

Your post here is basically the definition of noir. I'm not a huge fan of noir, but if you accept that it won't make sense it can be enjoyable.

Eh, stuff that's serious but doesn't make sense doesn't work that well for me.  Also, I totally didn't even realize that was Christina Hendricks.  Although I don't think I knew who she was until after I saw this movie.

It's easy for Americans to confuse English accents with good writing.

Contagion, which was almost as deliciously creepy as a documentary.

Did you like it? I thought it was pretty good, as a wakeup call that something like that could happen, and also to show anarchists and others of a radical leftist philosophy that they really don't want to have no government, 'cause its pretty bad without one.
